  • Not trilions yet, some are threatening to give back the TARP money as well (good) The media and YouTube is quick to talk about how much money has been approved for "Tarp" and related programs, but less than half has been released.....and our regional and local banks are doing well. I don't think anybody has the exact figure on how much money has been spent...can you provide a respectable source that can list actual money spent vs money approved for the program?

  • Over $2.6 trillion has been spent on bailouts.

  • 2000 banks failed during the S and L crisis

  • Yea, but the total cash outlay to the taxpayers was only $300 billion. And that was lessened by asset sales over the following years. In contrast the banksters are getting trillions this time.
