  • I'd rather have seen a video montage of DeLoreans, with footage of the building of the cars.

Also, you could have added video footage of Belfast landmarks, such as Harland & Wolff.

Everyone focuses so much on the fighting, but as a guy who spent his life in Belfast (I was born there in 1979 and moved to Canada last year) I can tell you that after seeing murders & bombing every night on the news I always welcome the more positive side of our wee city.

    Great song, btw! :)

  • For the people who say Belfast is not like this now, I know it is not, I made this video, the song is about Belfast of the past when John Deloreon had UK government grants to build the car, anyway, we don't see this on the news much anymore but it still happens, thankfully the majority of people on both sides have grown up and let peace talk, although they will always have a minority :)

  • LOVE ALL

  • erm if the videos made up of actual video footage then how can it be a piss take? I'm 18 and scottish and don't pretend to know what the troubles were like but considering what the footballs like over here then I can believe that belfast was that bad.

  • erm the video is made up of real footage (right?) so how can it be a piss take?? :/

  • Happens all the time it relects both future past and present nothings going to change a tell you that much ontill the 12th again ladysss

  • Has it calmed down now shortstrandceltic?

  • I have been there. My good mate lives in belfats i used to vist him everey summer cause my Dad moved to Ireland .

  • sounds like new order i like it so much!

  • I'm an american and i have to say belfast isn't like this at all. Even this yank is smart enough to know belfast aint this bad . This video is kinda not true init . I mean good video but kinda falls on the pisstake side. Just on wanker yanks opinion .

  • @brandoncipelle The video is not meant to represent Belfast of today, it is meant to represent the past and the troubles, the song/album itself is about John Delorean (inventor of the car in back to the future) and is about that era and how he managed to get the British government to back him with million and then blew it all :)

  • @zandosfactry Whats changed???

  • @brandoncipelle Go down the short strand. on the 12th july then post a comment.

  • @mrmarksaunders

    HAHAHAH WHOS THIS??

  • @brandoncipelle The video is set in the 1980s, how old were you in 1980 dude? This is not a piss take, remember as a yank you used to finance terrorism over there :)

  • the voice of my Welsh god

  • desde MEXICO me parese un grupo fantstico y esta cancion es una bombaaaaaaaaaa saludos

  • @cometackos Is that good? :D

  • I don't care what any of you say I dig this video as scary as it is

  • @notoriouslizw Thanks, its not meant to be scary mind, but it does show the rest of the world that not only terrorism happens by arabs/muslims, any country can have them, but one mans terrorist is anothers freedom fighter

  • some of the black and white clips from the twenties were actually filmed in dublin

  • @bouse23 Yup, just showing how the UK government hated the country and its people.

  • Nothing makes me sadder than this.

I have to watch this to assure myself that I can grasp and appreciate wrong and trouble and sadness and desperation which are so totally foreign to my happy life here in the USA .

    Good video, bad doings.

    Pray.

And thank God almighty for the sacrifice of the Knights Templar and the determination of America's founders that we would have no official religion here.

..while basing every decision on deliverations during prayer to one true and living God,

    Tom-Utica

  • @telsport I respect all religion but also preach the end of all religion, not through murder (christians killing pagans) etc, but in this day and age, what good does it give us? Most people in the world today wake up and check their inbox rather than have a prayer.

  • Its funny how these videos all show up beside the tourist vids for belfast

    Its not all bad :)

  • @Ajc176 lol,its ok, loads of Americans will still think it was shot during the spud famine and will want to visit :-)

  • this is a good compilation of videos, can i ask you for the source so i can downlaod the original files.

also i like how you have edited this with the music.

    Peace

  • @dee07killer Hey Dee, I made this about 2 years ago, I don't have any links to the originals sorry, glad you like it though, sorry for the delay in reply

  • @dee07killer RTÉ archives might be able to help u source this kind of footage

  • Although it is based on the fate of the Delorean Motor Company in Belfast, I have always thought that the song has added meaning in that it also refers to Britain's involvement in the troubles in Northern Ireland. Lyrics like "Belfast uh-oh you were my Vietnam / Belfast I know your patience overran / I took you for granted like so many in my day / I built my empire and threw it all away" could apply to both situations. Of course I may be wrong, but if it is the case, it may explain the video.

  • My only complaint is that the lyrics of the song don't really correspond with what's going on in the video. Isn't this about the fate of Delorean Motor Company in Belfast?

  • @conweez I have always thought that the song has meaning on different levels. If you look at the lyrics, they could apply to Britain's involvement in Northern Ireland as well as the fate of the Delorean Company in Belfast. Of course this might not be the case at all, but if it is, it may explain the imagery used in the video.

  • good vid

  • Regardless of what some other people have said, I thought the way you juxtaposed the song with these old video clips was pretty good, I enjoyed it anyway. Glad to see Belfast has finally come some way since all this.

  • how come them dont mention anything about mr John D getting bust with all his coke?

lol afterall thats why he went bust,no investor trusted him after that,he never got charged tho,due to intrapment

  • Have to agree with the majority of the comments about this montage. Absolutely no reason to stitch together a reel of riots (not even all from Belfast) to this song.

    Just ignorant and ill informed.

  • Tuuuuune!!! I do miss Belfast!!!

  • Excellent song, don't see what relevance this video has though. it is about john delorian and nothing to do with the troubles in the north.

  • Well Neon Neon were happy to use the video on tour.

  • @zandosfactry I like it. The lyric 'your patience overran' takes on a much wider meaning when viewed in the context of your video and northern irish history. Takes the song to another level unlike most music videos.

  • Love this song, but can't figure out what it's about...?

  • Its about the life of the guy who designed/invented the deloreon car (back to the future)

  • cant find these song to download :(

  • I'm from Dunmurry where the Delorean factory was! Had no idea until this concept album came out! We told this to Neon Neon after one of their gigs and they were treating us like celebrities! Quite funny. Nice video

  • Glad you like the video and dont worry about the other comments people leave, glad you enjoyed the video, cheers.

  • Yeah doesn't represent the Belfast of today at all.

  • Its not meant to represent today, its all about the 80s and Delorean, check out other videos for Neon Neon :-)

  • Well I like this music video. True I'd rather watch it with some sort of Anime, but seeing as how there are ONLY 25 videos with this song, I'm just glad there's one at all. ^.^

  • Glad you liked the video, cheers :-)

  • VIOLENCE did it get anybody anywhere

  • POLSKA POLSKA POLSKA !!!

  • i dunno y belfast r claimin half a derrys fukin riots fs ? few a the best riots there and the shot we the petrol bomb were in derry n that shot ws n waterloo street

  • This is a song from an album based on the life of delorean, I admit I have no experience of northen ireland, but growing up in the 80s this is the image I have from watching the news, I used artistic freedom in the making of this video, the band in question like what I did and have used it on tour, I am not promoting terrorism in this video, just reflecting my memories.

  • "Artistic freedom"?? Bullcrap. More like you thought - "Hmmm, Belfast, what images can I access easily" and ended up with this mish mash of rubbish. It's laziness more than anything else. It has nothing to do with the music or concept. What's next? Your film on Gus Van Sant's "Milk" featuring milk bottles?

  • Please disregard this degenerate.

It's not a fucking competition to see who had the 'best riots'.

  • sounds like depeche mode

  • Let's go to Belfast.

  • @billywillyjilly Yes, lets all go as im sure it is as safe on a fri/sat night as any other UK city centre, this video to me is a reflection on what I thought of the city/country as a kid growing up in the 80s

  • Nice song. They sound like M83's latest album.

  • superb song

  • up da ra!

  • Degenerate.

  • nice to see the nordies all arguing like scumbags in here... this song is about the delorian car plant.. industrial action and redundancy

  • That'll be why the album's called 'Stainless Style' - like the car!

  • if your father was shot by the IRA,why the back of the head?

  • Its funny how parts of Belfast look so like Londonderry, maybe you need to change the song.

  • Artistic freedom :-)

  • *Derry.

  • y do think londonderrys worse r wat??ha ha dnt b stupid

  • i just heard this song in jamba juice

    love it.

  • im from belfast. and aaa i had 2 move me dad was in da police and he died coz of da ira shot him in da back of his head!!

soo yer stop u bloody cunts

  • freaking awesome song!!! i love new songz that sound like the 80's

  • lyrics anyone ? i love belfast i love neon neon great song !

  • I love Belfast, Its my favourite city in the world.

  • I'm from Belfast and love being from Belfast. There are scum bags about, but seriously are there not scum everywhere? Whenever I watch the National News its always about the bad crap in England stabbing each other willy nilly. I'd be scared to live there becasue thats what the media shows me. Media usually only shows the bad side of life.

  • never was a truer word spoken. people hear the bad shit, because thats what theyre told.

  • Amen to that!

The media do the same to Dublin and Limerick!

  • belfast is da place da be / falls road yaaa

  • Not to start a sensation, because clearly somewhat of one has already been started, but, if you're going to tell strangers to "grow up" and are bothered by their behavior, don't continue the bickering through comments. Now THAT my friends requires some growing up. Nothing further. Great song, very powerful chorus.

  • wise the hell up, generalising the entire region as violent scum is ridiculous especially in light of the progress northern ireland has made. im from belfast and its not a hole. you see "violence every night without fail"?? you're in the wrong areas, -every town across the uk has bad areas, branding the entire society as violent scum is ludicrious. stop being so narrowminded and naive and for gods sake grow up.

  • I'm not generalisin the whole region I am saying the majority of people in the city. Every town in the Uk does indeed have it's bad areas but not on the scale I see in Belfast. I grew up and moved out to somewhere where it will be nicer to bring up my young family.

  • Quite a narrow opinion you have there, lots of people may not agree with your comment, I don't agree with it but im not here to delete comments I do not agree with.

  • Your just wrong then. Everytime I go home I see violence evry night I'm out without fail. It doesn't just happen where I live but in town as well. Glad I don't have to stay there full time. Don't get me wrong it is where the family home is, where my true friends are from and I have good memories of the place but it is a funny strange little dump of a place full of arseholes.

  • Anyone from Belfast like to comment?

  • I'm from Belfast, I can just admit it is a hole. Strange wee place with strange wee people in it that think what happens there is important, when on the scheme of things the pathetic little day to day lives of people at home mean nothing

  • I see then your actually from Belfast then?Well dickhead there is violence and violent arseholes no matter what town or city you are in all over this world,Stop hating on your own people because off the actions off a few dickheads who ruined your stay

  • saunter on

  • Really? quite strange. The whole Britain has blood on its hands & u single out Belfast? What an odd human.

  • fuck you scumbag

  • It's people like you that make normal Belfast people give you the impression that they are violent and aggressive people no doubt you probably hear a Belfast accent and you automatically assume they are a member off the UVF or IRA,Stupid judgmental English twat,

  • I'm from Belfast and there are a fair few cunts, lol

  • What ius this song about? I'm a tad confused, I just know that when someone tells me it'l seem obviuos!

  • It's about John DeLorean - he opened a factory in Belfast to make cars - it all went wrong - and obviously, in those days, things were very wrong in Belfast.

  • He designed and manufactured the back to the future car.

  • increible cancion

  • Waoo! great Melodic Catchy Electropop, Never heard of this band before.

    Neon Neon... Cool Band

  • Remins me of the 80s electronic bands... Nice to see good-electronic is not completely dead.

  • you have to love living in belfast not a fecking thing to be proud of minus teh fecking delorean

  • BUEN TEMA!!!!

  • Great Track

  • Yeah I want to see the real one, too.
