I'd rather have seen a video montage of DeLoreans, with footage of the building of the cars.
Also, you could have added video footage of Belfast landmarks, such as Harland & Wolff.
Everyone focuses so much on the fighting, but as a guy who spent his life in Belfast (I was born there in 1979 and moved to Canada last year) I can tell you that after seeing murders & bombing every night on the news I always welcome the more positive side of our wee city.
For the people who say Belfast is not like this now, I know it is not, I made this video, the song is about Belfast of the past when John Deloreon had UK government grants to build the car, anyway, we don't see this on the news much anymore but it still happens, thankfully the majority of people on both sides have grown up and let peace talk, although they will always have a minority :)
erm if the videos made up of actual video footage then how can it be a piss take? I'm 18 and scottish and don't pretend to know what the troubles were like but considering what the footballs like over here then I can believe that belfast was that bad.
Check out the exclusive rockfeedback session and interview with Neon Neon (with special guest Har Mar Superstar), the band formed by Super Furries frontman Gruff Rhys and producer Boom Bip.
I'm an american and i have to say belfast isn't like this at all. Even this yank is smart enough to know belfast aint this bad . This video is kinda not true init . I mean good video but kinda falls on the pisstake side. Just on wanker yanks opinion .
@brandoncipelle The video is not meant to represent Belfast of today, it is meant to represent the past and the troubles, the song/album itself is about John Delorean (inventor of the car in back to the future) and is about that era and how he managed to get the British government to back him with million and then blew it all :)
@brandoncipelle The video is set in the 1980s, how old were you in 1980 dude? This is not a piss take, remember as a yank you used to finance terrorism over there :)
@notoriouslizw Thanks, its not meant to be scary mind, but it does show the rest of the world that not only terrorism happens by arabs/muslims, any country can have them, but one mans terrorist is anothers freedom fighter
I have to watch this to assure myself that I can grasp and appreciate wrong and trouble and sadness and desperation which are so totally foreign to my happy life here in the USA .
Good video, bad doings.
Pray.
And thank God almighty for the sacrifice of the Knights Templar and the determination of America's founders that we would have no official religion here.

@telsport I respect all religion but also preach the end of all religion, not through murder (christians killing pagans) etc, but in this day and age, what good does it give us? Most people in the world today wake up and check their inbox rather than have a prayer.
@dee07killer Hey Dee, I made this about 2 years ago, I don't have any links to the originals sorry, glad you like it though, sorry for the delay in reply
Although it is based on the fate of the Delorean Motor Company in Belfast, I have always thought that the song has added meaning in that it also refers to Britain's involvement in the troubles in Northern Ireland. Lyrics like "Belfast uh-oh you were my Vietnam / Belfast I know your patience overran / I took you for granted like so many in my day / I built my empire and threw it all away" could apply to both situations. Of course I may be wrong, but if it is the case, it may explain the video.
My only complaint is that the lyrics of the song don't really correspond with what's going on in the video. Isn't this about the fate of Delorean Motor Company in Belfast?
@conweez I have always thought that the song has meaning on different levels. If you look at the lyrics, they could apply to Britain's involvement in Northern Ireland as well as the fate of the Delorean Company in Belfast. Of course this might not be the case at all, but if it is, it may explain the imagery used in the video.
Regardless of what some other people have said, I thought the way you juxtaposed the song with these old video clips was pretty good, I enjoyed it anyway. Glad to see Belfast has finally come some way since all this.
Have to agree with the majority of the comments about this montage. Absolutely no reason to stitch together a reel of riots (not even all from Belfast) to this song.
@zandosfactry I like it. The lyric 'your patience overran' takes on a much wider meaning when viewed in the context of your video and northern irish history. Takes the song to another level unlike most music videos.
I'm from Dunmurry where the Delorean factory was! Had no idea until this concept album came out! We told this to Neon Neon after one of their gigs and they were treating us like celebrities! Quite funny. Nice video
Well I like this music video. True I'd rather watch it with some sort of Anime, but seeing as how there are ONLY 25 videos with this song, I'm just glad there's one at all. ^.^
i dunno y belfast r claimin half a derrys fukin riots fs ? few a the best riots there and the shot we the petrol bomb were in derry n that shot ws n waterloo street
This is a song from an album based on the life of delorean, I admit I have no experience of northen ireland, but growing up in the 80s this is the image I have from watching the news, I used artistic freedom in the making of this video, the band in question like what I did and have used it on tour, I am not promoting terrorism in this video, just reflecting my memories.
"Artistic freedom"?? Bullcrap. More like you thought - "Hmmm, Belfast, what images can I access easily" and ended up with this mish mash of rubbish. It's laziness more than anything else. It has nothing to do with the music or concept. What's next? Your film on Gus Van Sant's "Milk" featuring milk bottles?
@billywillyjilly Yes, lets all go as im sure it is as safe on a fri/sat night as any other UK city centre, this video to me is a reflection on what I thought of the city/country as a kid growing up in the 80s
I'm from Belfast and love being from Belfast. There are scum bags about, but seriously are there not scum everywhere? Whenever I watch the National News its always about the bad crap in England stabbing each other willy nilly. I'd be scared to live there becasue thats what the media shows me. Media usually only shows the bad side of life.
Not to start a sensation, because clearly somewhat of one has already been started, but, if you're going to tell strangers to "grow up" and are bothered by their behavior, don't continue the bickering through comments. Now THAT my friends requires some growing up. Nothing further. Great song, very powerful chorus.
wise the hell up, generalising the entire region as violent scum is ridiculous especially in light of the progress northern ireland has made. im from belfast and its not a hole. you see "violence every night without fail"?? you're in the wrong areas, -every town across the uk has bad areas, branding the entire society as violent scum is ludicrious. stop being so narrowminded and naive and for gods sake grow up.
I'm not generalisin the whole region I am saying the majority of people in the city. Every town in the Uk does indeed have it's bad areas but not on the scale I see in Belfast. I grew up and moved out to somewhere where it will be nicer to bring up my young family.

In my opinion the majority of Belfast people are all scum. They are all violent and aggressive two traits which have no place in modern society. Britain should forget about the place.
Quite a narrow opinion you have there, lots of people may not agree with your comment, I don't agree with it but im not here to delete comments I do not agree with.
Your just wrong then. Everytime I go home I see violence evry night I'm out without fail. It doesn't just happen where I live but in town as well. Glad I don't have to stay there full time. Don't get me wrong it is where the family home is, where my true friends are from and I have good memories of the place but it is a funny strange little dump of a place full of arseholes.
I'm from Belfast, I can just admit it is a hole. Strange wee place with strange wee people in it that think what happens there is important, when on the scheme of things the pathetic little day to day lives of people at home mean nothing
