Caballe, Troyanos, Lamberti - Oh di qual sei tu vittima

I just got the whole performance (from House Of Opera) which I love vocally , BUT the video direction/ camerawork is awful! The only person we ever get a true close up of is the conductor!!! But the voices are sublime-almost as good as Caballe`s orange Norma.

By the way, surely the Muti/Eaglen recording is note complete?

The issue is that no other recording but the callas recrding actually sings and plays every note the bellini wrote. The cuts that all of the other versions on impose are structurally, emotionally and musically excruiating. Please sing the whole thing or not at all.

@lickeyendboys: Yes! (sorry for answering to a 5 months comment) . But you know that Callas made a lot of cuts (traditional sometimes) in many operas she performed, like Medea, or Ifigenia for example. She wanted the strongest version.

Nice performace however, Callas still remains THE Norma. Caballe is magnificent in anything else but Norma is Callas, no doubt. And indeed there is a clear disaccord at vanne, si, mi lascia indegno.

The only one who forever owns Norma is Bellini.

Yikes, what was the camera director thinking interpolating the conductor in the middle of the screen!! A distracting annoyance from an otherwise wonderful vocal performace.
