  • Thaaaats right shake the tree

  • try licking it

  • It's always good to make them some sugar water to help them better decide to stay and begin working. Great catch, that's a pretty sizeable swarm harvest!

  • You should deliver the box to Obama

  • You are a brave, brave person.

  • i liked your obvervation hive i've also given u the thumbs up see ya

  • whatttttt you just hit the tree what the... you want to be attacked lol

  • don't shake the tree don't cut the tree-cut a few branches yes but not the cutting or in a bloody cardboard box either you can slowly pick the swam with your hands gently you can waer gloves to be safe

  • Wow. Hardcore. No bee-suit

  • @pploveme223 That was one of the worst decisions of my life, did it when i was 4-5 years old:p

  • Man up....speak.............

  • throw a rock and run

  • there was a bee dancing in there that we missed

  • press the soccer ball for bee affect

  • @xxKLUTCH effect

  • Really interesting to watch, one of my hives has just swarmed this evening (in Ireland) and I'm about to go get a box and catch my first swarm hopefully. Its hanging from a branch at chest height about 10ft from the rest of the hives, I noticed the air was full of bees and watched where they were landing. I've always managed to avoid swarming by using the artificial swarm control methods but this year have failed. Fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as your catch did.

  • how does he not get stung?

  • @gschreiber94 he's not afraid of them

when you're afraid, your body puts off a scent that puts the bees into offensive.

  • I made a bee vacuum that does not harm any bees. I usually get every bee except a few wandering scouts. I slowly suck the girls into a padded 55 gallon barrel using a shop vac while my wife modulates the suction velocity. The bees are then carefully dumped into whatever kind of hive I have available. 100% effective so far.

  • @12222MICHAEL

that would be cool, but I don't think that's the queen. It doesn't look too queenlike to me, and it's not where I'd expect her to be, that's for sure.

  • @12222MICHAEL

that would be cool, but I don't think it is, and it's not where I'd expect her to be.

  • @12222MICHAEL

I'm not seeing her. or one that looks like its dead. do you mean the one at the bottom of the chain?

  • @12222MICHAEL

hunh. I don't see her. where?

  • "wow this is going to be cool" -- your crazy!!!!!

  • @parkerhale1099 sure! I enjoyed making it, and should post a response some time with an update on the hives. I've caught about 5 or six swarms since this one. This one actually went pretty well...

  • 2:11 Lol!!

  • nice vid! 5 stars

  • well its right to me okay

  • how they hell did they no aw jst start attacking them lol

  • they really look like wasp's not bees

  • not to me!

  • oh well the bees where i live are like really fat and hairy not like that

  • @Bedely1 those are bumble bees not honey bees

  • same thing tbf

  • no, not even close to the same thing. it's a different species of bee. bumblebee colonies are tiny compared to honeybee colonies.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhh shyytttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the sound of that many bees sets my teeth on edge :/

  • first you must spread the swarm with water to make it heavy and could not fly.

then .. cut the tree where the swarm stand and put it easy in the box.

placing the box in this state make it easy to drop on the ground.

i hope you have an advantage from my recomandations

    thanks

  • Can we have an update please :)

  • hi yunk,

I posted an update on my blog.

  • youtube makes it difficult to post a link. it's at:

    stripmindmedia net slash blog

  • that's

stripmindmedia net slash blog slash hive-updates html

  • Fankth to Eggman, I got thtung by two thwarmth ub beeth, but bevore fat, I lotht to my own teammateth, becauthe Eggman turned me into a Moblin.

  • Man you are a cool cookie! No veil! Respect from a UK bee keeper!

  • :) i sometimes wear a veil now.

  • this is giving me the heeby jeebies

  • I've done this many times.

I would recommend that you wear a veil (or at least some protection over your face/head) when capturing a swarm. Generally bees are fairly docile when they have swarmed but there are usually guards patrolling the periphery. They will still sting you!

The chain of bees that you observed the following day are producing wax to draw out the foundation into comb.

  • Cool! So was the move a success? It looks like it was. An update video of the observation hive would be nice, if it's not too cold out now.

  • yes, the move was a success. i don't have progressive video of the building process, though, and i've learned some things about observation hives. light tells the undertaker bees how to dispose of the dead, and the observation window can confuse them. opening/closing the window also freaks them out. for more, see my blog post.

  • Great stuff. Top Bar hives are fun to have. I keep 2 TBH & 3 Langstrof boxes also. Thanks for cool video.

  • so the one women in the background would have pissed me off by now
