Fantastic game. I was always Iceland or Italy. Loved this game. My friend and I played this for hours on end. Great memories. This was part of a double pack with Madden NFL on the same cartridge. It came with my Megadrive. Its strange, I loved this game but rarely played Madden and found it very difficult, while since then I have bought maybe one more hockey game and atleast six or seven Madden games.

this was such a good game. It was smooth, and the game play was fast. They dialed back the speed in 92(NHLPA) and NHL 93, but both were still great

omg. music is so annoying. np nhl teams? only national teams? no commentary? it is so primitive compared to my latest (very old indeed) nhl game the nhl 2005. i'm not even comparing it to the nhl 2010! ahhh but it's the first game. so it's kinda okay. it's still a classic in my opinion.

This games was sped up and used the original NHL Hockey Genesis version's teams. It was really too fast, but it was a fantastic find back in 1991/1992. I have this game for the Genesis, packaged with the original Madden. Awesome!

no, this game, i believe, thanks to matarese21, was the Euro version of the original NHL hockey, released in 1991 Thats not confirmed yet, ill check it out first.

In northamerica it was simply called NHL Hockey. The fights were great (after the whistle), rap around goals even better. Pittsburg, Rangers, Chicago and Boston were the better teams.
