The Microsoft ActiMates dolls (Arthur and DW) can actually interact with the Arthur TV show and videos. For TV show or video interaction, a hockey puck shaped transmitter device named the TV Pack should be purchased seperately and be connected to the MIDI/game port connector of the PC. It reads a thin barcode-like strip along the left edge of the screen and retransmits it to the ActiMates dolls. But when the Actimates dolls were discontinued towards the beginning of season 5, so were the strips.

these dolls were pretty neat. I think they could also hook up to the TV and interact with whatever show they were associated with, like the Arthur dolls would interact if you had one plugged into the TV while watching Arthur.
