Most likely a Gearbox issue here.. Think it overheated due to too much revving of the engine as Cadets are slow when it's with a Voith Gearbox. Unless Arriva has some ZF Cadets then it may be a different story.
Well , the main reason to most bus fires , is because you YOUST to be abel to smoke upstairs or at the back of the bus , (depending if its a double decker) or it might of just been the engine
I was on an arriva dennis dart in spennymoor one day. By the way that's near durham. Anyway for about half a mile the bus was filled with the smell of burning. Although they didn't have to call the fire bregade. They did have to call an engineer. But what good does that do when you've already wrecked the engine. Honest to god truth it was a lot worse than the smoke on the video.
lol an arriva bus at our college burnt to the ground and took half of another double decker with it, there seems to be some kinda corellation between ariva and fire lol
The Commander isn't a bad bus, its the dickheads who drive them, thrashing them everywhere, on a long run they will overheat if you have the accelarator to the floor the entire journey. There is a Dart where i work, and everyday i have to put around 4 litres of oil into the engine, not because of a leak or anything like that, because the drivers belt it all over the place, and the ool bursts out all over the fucking place.
The Commander IS a huge piece of cheap and nasty rubbish, made using lightweight running gear, mated to a gearbox with only 3 cogs! It needs thrashing to even make sedate progress...Its not got enough torque to push the thing along. Its it Dart SLF clone that has been stretched too far...
A bus that size needs at least a 7 litre engine to give it the torque needed in a citybus...Preferably bigger than that...
Its a Cummins ISbe mate..Renowned for failing! Not suited to the Voith gearbox either! Engine overstressed for a nearly 12m long bus. Its only just over 6 litres!
evening craigy! long time no speak.. but aye sounds abit overstressed aswell.. been driving a commander today and allthough its a nice drive wouldnt go over 43
wouldnt surprise me with ARRIVA they don't look after their vehicles properly. In Derby we have finally had 26 yr old former corporation buses replaced.
My suspicions say electrical fault?

But there's arriva making sure that their reputation for giving you an utterly crap service isn't disrupted by us mortal passengers.

Symbolic of Arriva vehicle maintenence. Kinda hypocritical issuing vehicle defect cards imo!
