In Surah An Nisa, or "4: verse 89", doesn't order any apostates to be killed, but rather, IF THEY turn against you, essentially, take up arms. In Surah An Nisa, or "4: verse 89", doesn't order any apostates to be killed, but rather, IF THEY turn against you, essentially, take up arms. Read the verse in the whole context, not from your out of context cultural conservative Christian websites you're copying and pasting from. In opposite to many people, I am fully that the religion itself was shaped and changed by the societies it went into.
Sometimes, even certain "holy days" were deliberately put in such ways, that they didn't collide with the existing holidays, which the original habitants of a newly christianised society were used to. The same goes for your example of the week days (although these have nothing to do with religion).
The habits were held for the "ease of integration", nothing else.

For the birthday of Jesus : Yes, true, we will never REALLY know the precise date, as little as we would ever know the precise birth date of other historical figures like Mohammed.
But celebrating their birthday is a sign of appreciation and doesn't happen because the scriptures say so.
