To react to something that was actually in this segment is Walt Simonson. I would fucking LOVE if Simonson was to do FF again. His run back around 89-90 was my first run of FF and it was brilliant, especially the adventure in the negative zone.

His recent work on Orion was brilliant and since then its just been some covers. I think Marvel and DC think his art won't sell a book..which is so wrong, he's one of the best artist there is. Just pair him with a "name" co writer and just watch it sell

I don't get MA the story is stupid the "Avengers" are shit! Iron man in the book with the pre Extremist armor and in that time he is the world most wanted!

I don't like that series one bit but I will wait until issue 24 to say what is going to be the MA main story line.

I agree that putting Hickman on FF is a great idea, but I doubt if that will be enough to get me to read it. It doesn't seem to matter how good the creative team is, I just can't get into FF. I loathe those characters too much to possibly give the comic a chance. Speaking of Hickman, how about Secret Warriors #2! Man, that comic was awesome. I can't comment on Mighty Avengers as I am not reading it and after the last issue I highly doubt if I will continue to read New Avengers either.

Ya pobra, Secret Warriors #2 did not disappoint. Neither did FF: Dark Reign #1 for that matter. We will be talking about those I'm sure this weekend.

I love your draconian reviews, CCW, but sometimes I feel you revile a particular book or aspect of it for the hell of it. Point in case, the MA interiors. It's not as awful as you proclaim and is far more tolerable than many other books on the stands. Yes, it has its low and high points, however, that can be said for many artists who may have to rush for a deadline. Pham deserves some slack. Google JRJR or pick up any current issue ASM for AWFUL artistry.

Actually, no. I am not bashing this book just for the hell of it. To me the art is that awful and I can not tolerate it. If the excuse for the art looking so terrible is because he has a deadline than guess what? It's time to find a new line of work. And this is only the SECOND issue of this run!

There are artists out in the industry who do a monthly book, don't have a problem with deadlines and their art is top shelf.

I don't need to cut this artist any slack either. He's a professional and is getting paid to do what he does. If it passes Marvel's quality control than bully for him but god forbid if I want some quality art to go along with Slott's quality writing.

Also, I do read Amazing Spidey. Has JRJR's art been off? Ya but the man has been in the industry for DECADES. His best work is behind him. In his heyday though JRJR could draw circles around some of these new guys.

Marvel is heavily pushing Pham as one of it's "Young Guns" and I don't see why. Sorry, for an Avengers book the writer and the fans deserve better.

Completely...agree Pham is fucking awful, my love of all things Dan Slott cannot overcome my dislike of Pham's art.

WTF how is he a "Young Gun"? His anatomy is off, he has zero ability in compostion, and every face looks dead and generic.

What appears to be most evident is our contrary appreciation of artwork. While you and, for whatever reason, many others find JRJR's blocky, sharped edged figures appealing I find Phams smooth and sketched pensils far more tolerable and becoming of actual comic book artwork.

Nothing "smooth" about Pham's lines, his anatomy is atrocious, his backgrounds nonexistant, basic things like drawing hands (Thumbs) is a mystery to him. His ability to draw perspective is lacking, check ish #2 /pg.14 of Ironman descending his angles are all wrong just sloppy.

I haven't been getting ASM so I can't comment on JRJR;s art, the last thing I got of his was Eternals where his art was phenomenal. Oh yeah I got kick-ass but I just try not to think of that book....

This "young guns" thing is such bullshit, marvel is pushing young artists onto books before they are ready for it. Artists need to mature and some of these guys just aren't given the time. Kirby was at his peak in his 50's, same for Buscema but now it seems like "old is bad, young is good"

I do not see anyhing resembling unacceptible artistry. I just do not see it at all. Truth be told, he's presently one of the better artist out there. Granted, his figures are dispropotionate from time to time, but he succeeds in his craft more often than he falters.

Then you need to check yo' eyes Phoenix, go check artist with real talent like Hitch, McNiven,Quitely etc..Pham needs to go back to art school if he ever went at all.

Hitch, McNiven and Quitely are overrated in my opinion. McNivens work is generally safe and bland, Quitely's isn;t great at drawning faces and Hitch can be good but sometimes is scratchy and sparse.

And I question the work ethic of all 3, none of them can do 22 pages a month, real masters can do work as detailed as any of them and deliver on deadline because they worked hard rather than acted like stars, people like Kirby, Buscema, and current guys like Alan Davis, Walt Simonson, Chaykin .

Uh.. yeah it is, quite generic and lack luster all around. Also ASM art is lightyears better than Pham's and baggin' on JrJr? Dude you don' lost yo' mind. JrJr is a cat who can draw two monthlies consistantly, solid figures, amazing backgrounds, great acting with the characters.

JRJR's pencil looks they were drawn by elementary school schools high off glue rather than a professional comic book artist. Phams work actually 'slooks like people as opposed to JRJR wood cut-out approach.

I'm with Deemar on this, JRJR is a great artist, someone who's truly got their own voice. He reminds me of a meld of Kirby, Romita Sr, Walt Simonson, Phillipe Druillet and others.

JRJR is all about telling the story, not about perfect proportions....Kirby didn't draw with perfect proportions either but damn could he draw. And both guys developed and learned over the years, lets hope Pham learns to discover his own style in the future.

No. JRJR's artistry is simply repugnant. His work on New Ways To Die is the ONLT reason I couldn't bring myself to buy that series. Yes, his work is so bad, IMO, I do not nuy anything with his name it regardless of story quality or acclaim. I have yet to see a worste artist in Marvel or DC.

Sounds like your just being contrary for the sake of it now. Me and Deemar think that JRJR is one of the best artists to have worked in comics in years. He's a mature artist with his own voice whereas Pham is a neophyte. So be it, no one is forcing you to buy anything but the fact remains that several people think Phams art is rushed and sloppy.

No, I am not. And majority does not equate to fact. The mystifying appeal for for JRJR so many of you share is proof of this since his artistry is without doubt THE WORSE I've ever seen. You have no idea how disappointed I am that he'll be penciling ASM #600. I'd have love to buy such a milestone book but with his penciles marring its interiors I am going to have to pass.

In no way shape or form is JRJR art quality. Truthfully, the first time I saw his art I honest to goodness thought it was poorly done fan art. Yea, its bad. At least in comparison to other artists.
