I like the Arcade version. The SNES version is okay and all, but it felt kind of watered down. Hardware limiations and all. Alot of the Fatalties in the SNES seemed watered down and awkward as well.

I'll also add that it's a lot more fun to dig at the SNES version for bugs than it is the arcade version. Sure, you don't have a lot of high levelers these days on an ancient title, but it is fun to mess with it every once in a while and see a 'lol' happen in front of you every so often on the emus.

I'd have to agree with the assessment here. Graphics aside, you could tell where the polish was placed after they ported the arcade version. I actually started with the SNES version 15+ years ago and eventually moved to the arcade version of this and 2 out of interest. I could tell where the positives were in either much like this was mentioned here. Finding bugs in the arcade version versus the SNES version as well as the overall feel tended to sway a lot better towards the SNES variant.

That is true, hardly anyone plays KI at a high level anymore. KI was alive and well during the its first 3 years in the arcades (various local scenes), was VERY active during XBAND, and then disappeared into total obscurity for a few years until emulators and Zbattle came into existence. KI on ZB got very fucking huge for a few years, and attracted many old and new school players. ZB had MANY high level players, but even then it only lasted a few years..

That's why I do Muay Thai now.

Listen, when I was a kid I saved up over for 3 months $50 dollars to buy Killer Instinct for the super nintendo. I was SO excited for its release date because I LOVED the arcade version (I'd only seen it at the mall). Well the day came, I bought the snes version and was EXTREMELY disappointed. I didn't care about the "updated" gameplay fixes noted here. I cared about the graphics, and the graphics on the snes version SUCKED. The snes is a cheap knockoff, so don't try to over analyze this!!

Sorry for the late reply. I used to play some SSF2T, I was actually pretty good at that. I used to be really good at SSB64, but that was years ago. As for Brawl, I only played that casually. However, KI was my best by far - I was a beast at it until my retirement. Matter of fact, I RARELY EVER play fighting games (or games in general) anymore; now I do the REAL thing - martial arts!! I train Muay Thai every day for several hours, and plan to become a champ someday. :D

1.0 is an actual version of the game, it was the ROM used in the earliest carts. Developers are known to update their cartridges and games in subtle ways.

This video takes into consideration the most recent versions of each game (arcade 1.5d vs SNES 1.1), so try to think of the other older versions as obsolete.

Many games have multiple um.. I guess updates. 1.1 is merely a slightly updated release of the game; the changes are subtle, are usually are more about improved coding, such as bug fixes, or region/PAL related things.

As for the arcade version, the differences between the versions are were quite drastic, namely some major bug fixes.

Just download SNES U 1.1 lol.

Yep. KI arcade is better for casual gamers and combo fiends. KI snes is better for hardcore matches, although in KI in general sucks as a fighting game (unbalanced, glitchy, broken, and gameplay falls apart bad at high levels).

I gotcha but maybe cause I played that version 1st idk.. and the only thing they could do to Snes version was refine the engine since it wouldnt look or sound the same had it did + the tweaks then yeah.. maybe only possible had it been on N64.. "the original plan" but the cards fell where they lay but its whateva my opinion still stands call me whatcha want :)

The ARCADE version for sure...thats no question but this is... tell me.. where in all of history has a DOWNGRADE been an "IMPROVEMENT"...? I'll tell ya... You are clearly ignorant and did not seem to understand 90% of what was in the video.

The arcade version is way too buggy and inconsistent. Sure, it's the "original release" of KI, and it obviously set the guidelines for the SNES and Gameboy ports, but it's TOO CLUMSY OF A GAME. How the hell could an incredibly glitchy and poorly made version be better than one that fixes a huge amount of issues?

Clearly fanboyism is the driving force behind your opinion. Arcade's fun, but inferior to SNES.

What you said could go either way.

The arcade version could be about mastering big combos and glitches, and doing fancy tricks (alone, of course).

I agree that SNES version is more for a clean and solid fight, something that arcade offers less of.

However, it doesn't mean that players of one version are any less skilled than players of another version.. just that one is better for doing fancy tricks and combos to impress your friends, the other is better for fighting.
