I saw him in some seriously small venues. It was beautiful. The Texas Union, and Antones in Austin, Tx. Trixie sang a song with him at Antones. Miss him mucho.
tomorrow I begin my visit staying with his father Jerry Whitley, my uncle. I'm so blessed to be in the presence of such greatness. Chris, watch over me while I'm in your father's home!
I live with your father, you live with my Father. <3 Rest in peace.
I had the good fortune of being aware of him for about 10 years before he died; unlike Jeff Buckley who I discovered by reading his obituary. But I can't forget the Grammies when they showed all the musicians who had died the previous year. No one clapped for Chris 'cause no one knew who he was. :(
Oh my god, where has this guys music been my wholelife?wait hes dead? why???????? why cant I find out about beautifull musicians like this when theyre alive ,so I at least have a chance of thanking them for making me happy. not fair. Im sorry Chris.ill love and cherishand share your music from now on, and make my own in your honor. itdoesnt make up for youbeing gone i know. so beautifull. its both a sad and happy day for me now. I hope everyone reading this has beauty such as this in their life
LONG TIME - CLASSIC country fan; but I was introduced to Chris in '92...LOVE everything he does, unique and true to his venue - lyrical genius and yes...VERY underrated.
Our sweet burning abandoned angel. Haunted, pure. A twisted flame anchored to a place the rest of us forgot we came from. I feel honored to have been alive while he was. I can say I saw him, I can say I felt it, I can say I recognized it. Rest in deep, beautiful peace, Chris.

This guy may probably be one of the most underrated artist of all time! I hope word of mouth, time and his legacy changes it!

Thank you for uploading this video,
Chris Whitley's music carries so much weight behind it,
the album this song comes from dirt floor was a one microphone one voice and one guitar record,
simply produced, live recordings.
a collection of earthy songs that should be part of anyones music collection.
A truly great artist,
Time will tell...
