First thing, you have to see a congressman and say you will need an advanced reservation to visit a mint, than you need to write to him to confirm it... A lot of paper work afterward, including a legal check-up at different level, the homeland security have is word (generally code orange=not allowed=you have to start back later). At the mint, you are screened (got an umbrella or a pen=you can't get in). It is hard, but it is possible and legal.

the sad thing is that we are paid in worthless paper fiat toilet tissue dollars. i would rather you pay me in metal for my labor. you see if man were really free he would demand to be paid in gold. all the politicians are corrupt. they can make laws that state we must be paid in gold. inflation steals my life savings. when they print more paper dollars then they become worthless around the world. and then we become worthless as americans. what makes a human being a human is his money.

@Rico8458 There is some reasons for that: the first one being how much could you barre around? That was a problem, so the state goes to have a bill saying how much gold you own: 1 gold eagle=10 bucks.

Than, they face another problem: stolen from terrorist or other state, and the economy always growth faster than the supply of gold and favor saver too much, which mean that money leak from the economy.

On the other hand, we gone to far in the other direction, with too much injection and debt.
