  • But will it blend?

  • C130's are flying tanks. They can go anywhere and do whatever they want. I Ianded in one in a cross wind with the plane coming in at a 45 degree angle down the runway at Ft. Irwin. I thought we were all gonna die.

  • a very efficient way of delivering "democracy"

  • I just like to see the planes. Reading what some of these losers have to say, swearing cause they don't know english, is really pathetic. Can they fly?

  • Pretty awesome, but is anyone there afraid that the sand will get into the plane and wreak havoc on the engine and other vital parts?

  • Those things really can stop on a dime!

  • cute

  • you mean bitch landing right? ;)

  • I love flying trucks

  • Ahh.. the familiar engine sound of the C-130s...

  • It's made to land on stuff like that..

  • try to land an f16 on there...XD.not just the wheels, but the whole landing gear is gonna sink

  • to kill them then lightning...

Hey, the first drink is on me and thank you God's chosen people for your special responsibility of keeping my oil fields -oh, and your freedom-safe!!

  • @TheHeardHouse I removed the rest of your comments as I don't want language like that here and I have absolutely no idea what you were ranting on about. And FYI it is a Royal Air Force not USAF C130 so keep your random rants about American politics elswhere.

    Thanks, FFTN

  • now I wouldnt say royal air force pilots are the best in the world. the C-130 is a very versital plane, and low pressure high volume tire's, is what makes it possible to land and taxi. As for taking off they do, what is called a assualt take off.

  • yeahhhhhhhh an C-130 Offroader x'DD

  • Quicksand wud b a bugger, ditto a beached whale

  • RAF pilots are the best in the world.

  • then they drive 200km to base using highway

  • now how the fuck they will takeoff??

  • @nalgaproductions

Watch at 1:18 & 2:20 for the answer.

  • Ph man, i hate the C130 Series. these Bastards could land everywhere. Even in a Volcano.

  • how come the C130 DOESNT BOG DOWN IN THE SAND?

  • @mrfridaynight330

Fat tyres and hard, compacted sand when the tide is out on a flat beach.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral thanks man

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral im guessing that they only picked the hardest sand, and then marked it out as the safest (by marking with the orange beacons)

  • This is what i call a day at the beach.

  • Beer: check, fishing poles: check, ice in the ice box: check, sun screen: check, live bait: check, spot o' tea: check. finger sandwiches: check, grey poupon: check, beach umbrellas: check. Sir the check list is complete now lets set 'er down and go fishing!

  • Wasnt that beach used in a episode of top gear around 2007, for the euro muscle car challenge coz that had a C130 in it.

  • pilot: Screw pavement, Im putting her down right HERE

  • Urassi door?

  • Does anybody recce the beach prior to the aircraft landing? How can the pilot be sure the aircraft wont dig in or sink ? What proceedures are in place to keep ill- informed bystanders getting in the way ? It's a great spectacle, it just raises a few questions that I hope someone can answer to satisfy my curiosity. thankyou.

  • @24765968 The RAF have forward air controllers who are just like the air traffic guys in an airport tower except they work in the field. It is part of thier job to select the exact landing zone and mark it for the pilots. There will be a crash crew available in peace time should things go wrong and they are responsible for keeping dog walkers and onlookers at a safe distance.

  • @allano937 Yup but they are not FAC they are TAC ATC. Close but not really the same thing.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral Thanks. Ive been out the RAF too long and started getting some terminology wrong. I know theres a big difference between TAC ATC and FAC. I couldnt remember the correct name when I replied to the original comment. Ive seen a video some where on the work of TAC ATC. I'll maybe hunt on here. Thanks again for correcting me

  • @24765968 Yeah they would definitely recce the beach. They recce beaches for landingcraft too (depths, sand composition etc) Its the same for Helos and dodgy LS's. In Norway, Helo pilots go in and recce the LS.... imagine its the same here.

  • You know your weekend beach party is seriously badass when you roll up in your C130.

  • You also forget that the C130 has reversing pitch props.

  • for a big plane it stops verry smooth and fast :O

  • Guess he decided to skip the traffic and do circuits at the beach.

  • Looks like just another nice day at the beach to me. I shudder at the work required to prevent saltwater corrosion in the wheel wells though. Great airplane. I was a C-130 Flight Engineer USAF.

  • I was on holiday on the other end of the beach when it landed, but the beach is like 4 miles long.

  • He He! What an awesome aeroplane. Unbeatable.

  • You can thank the US for making such superb aircraft like that one...

  • Comment removed

  • @ktusk15 Indeed, however we found your planes were simply too small and had inadequate range. Which is fine, but you know - second best and all that. So we stretched it, gave it proper engines and air to air refuelling cabilities amongst others. Gave it to the best pilots in the world and Bob's your uncle.

  • cool

  • How does it not bury its wheels in the sand with the movement and weight?

  • Great landing and take off!

  • Now I want to see one of those C-5 pilots we used to deal with occasionally pull that off in one of their big birds.

  • Would the sand's friction/resistance of the wheels cause the plane to slow down quicker after landing, and paradoxically, make it need a longer than usual stretch to achieve V2 for take off?

  • @egyptianminor i would assume longer, lets hope a pilot/scientist tells us

  • @egyptianminor

Simple answer is yes (especially when you see the tide comming in and the water on the surface of the sand), but don't worry Saunton Sands are plenty long enough, even without reducing the normal safety margins incorporated in the calculations for takeoff and landing.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral why did it land on the beach? sorry if you explained it and i missed it

  • @DmitriRussian It's doing strip prep landing, which is practise for the real thing in the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq more than likely. To think, I've more than likely serviced this Hercules :)

  • @W4lt0n You in the air force?

  • @MrLIewz you obviously dont have an intrest in planes do you?

  • whoop de fucking doo a plane lands and takes off and yr impressed by this??

  • easy to spot a RAF C130 compared to USAF C130s. saw plenty of them on my deployments to SW Asia, RAF have always been good people!

  • @Z3roH3ro88 no the us crews are friendlier the brits are stuck up snotty royals

  • RAF FTW

  • All that salt water....The airframes guys are going to be p.o'd at the next corrosion check.

  • kid:-making sandcastle-

    -plane lands-

    kid:FUCK DAMN MY SANDCASTLE

  • Personally I feel sorry for the poor s*d who has to clean all the salt and sand off . . .

  • Haha dang USAF are some bad azzez, I'd love to have a beach party in that thing. People bring they big truck. I bring a Hercules haha

  • @Shalashaska016 Not USAF I'm afraid, it is Royal Air Force.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral yea ha we cant do crazy stuff like this... sadly we are to strict

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral as evidences by the refueling probe mounted above the cockpit, usaf doesn't use hose-drouge refueling, so there would be a receptacle above the cockpit and centered

  • @parkinglotpedro Yes correct as I said above not USAF. I know because I was flying it.

As for USAF Air to Air Refuelling..I am not aware that the USAF C130s recieve fuel airborne so I don't believe they have the receptical for boom refuelling, someone may be able correct me on this fact. I believe the recieving of fuel for RAF C130s was initially trialled and used for the RAF during the Falklands war.

The USAF C130s do however use hose-drouge refuelling but only in the capacity as the tanker.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral i work on USAF c130h and j models every day. ive never seen a refueling boom on any of them. or any type of refueling apparatus for that matter. this plane i believe this plane may be a test plane because it doesnt have any markings on it. if it was us it would have the majcom(AMC, ACC, ect) on the tail. and a tail number

  • @senojeelnodnarb This is not a test plane, as stated in the description, it is a regular Royal Air Force C130K C3. It does have markings they are just difficult to see, as I stated in the description it is XV299, and it has normal RAF markings (roundles and flashes as well as Royal Air Force written below the cockpit).

The RAF have been using C130Ks for Air to Air Refuelling since the early 1980's, no need for testing, in fact the opposite I'm afraid the aircraft is being phased out.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral Wow that looks like it takes a lot of skill well done dude.

  • @parkinglotpedro or, by the fucking video description. clown.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral so its still a u.s plane :)

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral ..still good piloting!

  • @Shalashaska016 YO dude The USAF are to Pussy to do that Thats why Britain rules

  • @Shalashaska016 your stupid,typical american stupidity,fuckin moron.

  • @Shalashaska016 I fly on USAF 130's as a Loadmaster..... we don't have a big refueling boom, and only some the spec-ops 130's can refuel mid-air, none of the regular "slicks" can. The USAF 130's that can refuel have a port above the cockpit as mentioned below. This is still a cool video though, i can say i've landed on some questionable things, but never a beach.

  • Красавец!

  • Sunbather #1 to Sunbather #2: "Honey. Is that a seagull coming at us"?

  • Salty water & corrosion must be a serious issue there !

  • Those things are massive.

  • OMG these are GREAT!! cargo aircraft, I have been in plenty in my time and I love them :))

  • i had one of those plastic models for the army men, anybody know what i'm talking about? that was old school shit right there

  • This is a very cool video. As an American, I compliment the RAF for having damn good pilots. Just as good as ours if not better.

  • To fly one of these, even if it is the Captain Sim - Legendary C-130 Pro Pack the most exhilarating experience definitely one of my favorites. That

s a Flight Simulator available for you computer.

  • Not, THAT is a way to go on the beach!

  • RAF Operation lets fuck off down the beach! Beer check! Bordies check! Towls Check! Silly hats from the royal gaurd check! Now how the fuck can we get this squadron down there? Well Sir I got the Keys to the C130K!! oh jolly good!

  • @bigtopbollocks

I like the sentiment however what the RAF Officer actually said was:

"RAF Operation- lets Bugger Off Down The Beach! Beer check! Bordies check! Towls Check! Silly hats from the Royal Gaurd check! Now how the Devil can we get this Squadron down there?"

"Well Sir I got the keys to the C130K!!"

    "Oh jolly good show!"

You were very close to getting it right ;-))

  • maybe the raaf shpuld land on bondi!

  • klasse pilot

  • id love to be on the beach when someone lands one of those!

  • Salt water and aircraft are not a good mix! Someone will have to do some hosing down?

  • why was it on the beach for

  • @TheDevenrocks

    Training for unprepared runways.

  • @TheDevenrocks

Looks like training flight not just for unprepared runways but 'desert' runways possibly for special forces flights in and out of Afghanistan. Note the paint work and lack of markings. I live near Brauton Sands, they practice these landings at night too.

  • the hell u messing around with a ac130 for idiots

  • it looks fake but i know it isint

  • Geez, and these guys are paid to do this !! :)

  • I stay with relatives who live the other side of the headland visible in the background in a village called Croyde and can confirm that RAF Hercules have been using Saunton sands for these types of landing exercises for years! Just a mile away is RAF Chivenor and although now only a base for ASR Helicopters it is possible that advanced ground crews are sent there to prepare the sands for arrivals.

  • It was a beach; I'm staying at the suanton sands hotel looking down on the beach and when the tide it out the beach is very wide and very long. Other than the beach there is a huge area of sandbanks and two beautiful golf courses. No Tarmac or runways in sight. By they way why is the language of my commentators so poor and aggressive? It not life or death!

  • The C130 dates back over 50 years and is still gettin shit done.

  • They're on a damn beach, now get the hell over it.

  • @aliarmistead You would be amazed at the versatility of where a c-130 can land. Dirt roads, dry fields, etc...

The "runway lights and signs" you see is placed there by an air operations crew of course. Even in combat situations, if they can help it, they will attempt to sneak in a team prior to the landing and set up IR strobes to mark the landing strip. Its a real cool plane. Its not far fetched at all to see it land on a beach. Beach sand at the water line can be pretty hard.

  • @aliarmistead

I don't know what runway lights you see? As Voodoo has said, the orange markings you see are put there by the advanced tactical ATC guys to mark a touchdown point on the beach.

  • @aliarmistead You are an ignorant person, yes we do land in less than 1000 feet, offload right as we turn around. And get airborne in less than 1200 feet. We do it on sand, we do it on mud, and you just saw them do it on a beach. The talon is an amazing fat aircraft. Btw, I call you ignorant specifically because you don't understand we must train to get it right in the field. So if you see crap on the tarmac it does not mean it is not what they are training for.

  • @XGCScrappy I worked on these things in the U.S. This guy aliar is pretty retarded. He is saying how heavy the aircraft is. Also the 130 was designed for very short landings and take off and its main landing gear is designed specifically for unimproved landing strips aka no roads.

  • @aliarmistead I worked on C-130's for 6 years and they were designed from day 1 to land on rough terrain there smart guy. During different years at Red Flag we landed in the desert several times. Also this plane loaded is only around 79,000 kilograms.

  • @aliarmistead you need glasses?

  • @aliarmistead your the retard go to bed...

  • @aliarmistead Weight distribution.

  • @aliarmistead are you stupid?!?!?!?!? c17's (which are heavier) land on sand and dirt just like that, they have things called soft field landings and takeoffs.

  • @aliarmistead

is this guy serious or what? he cant tell thats a beach? dude tray to leave the house every once in a while

  • @aliarmistead C130's can very much so, land on beaches. I have seen it in real life. Do your homework before leaving such comment

  • @aliarmistead Dude... you see that white building on the cliff at the end? i can see that from my house... i can promise you there is nothing next to that beach but sand dunes and rocks

and for the love of god i hope your a troll... because if not your really. really ignorant

  • @aliarmistead Ignorance is not proof of your opinion. Or, as in this case, delusion.

The Hercules plane is specifically designed to be able to land pretty much anywhere.

  • @aliarmistead didn't know a C130 weighed 200 tons, only 50 tons less than a fully loaded Airbus 340...

  • @aliarmistead

I bet you are part of the CoD generation.

This plane is designed for it. Get a life retard. Stay of the keyboard

  • Comment removed

  • @aliarmistead dumb f

  • @aliarmistead sand isnt always soft..

  • YEP, its "a" C130.............

  • I think they're having fun taking off, then landing at the beach

  • Shit chill out you guys. It's obviously a c-130. All I was saying is when " cod" kids say enemy ac-130 above it's not a c-130 because it's attack and rapes your soul

  • Wow.

  • I was an control pilot for Lockheed Martin for about 15 years, and I remember landing on the most unforgiving ground to prove the durability of the C 130 and the other aircraft the produced.

  • I hope they took it thru the plane wash when they were done.

  • Shall I put a stop to the speculation?

It is a Royal Air Force C130K C3.

    Tail Number XV299.

The beach is Saunton Sands in Devon, England.

    51° 6'48.16"N 4°13'17.41"W

For those who doubt the location check out the Panoramio photo at the lat and long above on Google Earth titled Saunton Sands Hotel, you will see the hotel in the background on the video at the end of the landing rollout 31secs into video.

    Hope this helps.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral

It won't stop anything. These little kids get on here and think they're hot stuff while they quote their video games.

  • Uhhhh ... what happend to the people at 0:17 O_o

  • @xs239 holy crap youre right O_o WTF

  • Wait so "some" people think this is an AC-130 and not a C-130?

    I can only laugh.

There are many variants but lets take the "Spectre" load out... 2x 20mm Vulcan cannons, 1x 40mm cannon and 1x 105mm howitzer.

So the question remains to the nubs "Can you see any of those weapons sticking out its left side?"

No? thought not, so lets agree now that's its a C-130.

  • who would have thought that those beasts can land on sand too!??

  • wow, I don't understand how they are able to keep from digging into the sand, especially when they are turning around.

  • @bctallgirl momentum

  • FRIENDLY AC-130 ON THE GROUND......

    really there is

  • @mikesoccer11 Its a C-130 moron!

  • @mikesoccer11 C-130 buddy If there were cannons on the side then you could call it an AC-130

  • @striker2387045 Fake? You're a moron.

  • Loved working with "Hilton" flight crews ... top notch aviators, GOB BLESS the BRITS!

  • @MGCairtraffic just wondering how does that make sense when its an american plane? an american pilot landed it on a carrier ;)

  • @GILLETTEWILDHOCKEY I'm pretty sure the C-130 landing on the beach is Brit, we don't have refueling probes on our Herks

  • it's not a gun ship. It's a refueling probe above the nose.

  • great aircraft the c 130, 50+ years old and going strong...

  • Kinda makes ya wonder how many times a SOC bird has landed on a beach droped off or picked up a team then gotten the hell outa dodge .... Just saying is all .

  • I'm amazed that they didn't sink in the sand. I've flown a Cessna182RG on a wet turf runway and got stuck. Sand changes in texture with every movement of the tide. Great Vid. J R

  • how much damage would the salt and sand do to the gear? i noticed they took off in some standing water, but that couldn't get all the sand out and it adds a bunch of salt

  • thats cool i wish i could be a piolt... best im gonna do is make parts for them.

  • Its pending beach in west Wales it's huge most of it belongs to the mod

  • @welshboy0009

It's not Pendine Sands if that is what you were saying.

  • @Flaps50trimsneutral he's confused because the cliffs are in the same place lol but there's no road over the cliffs at pendine ....

  • @welshboy0009 that's defo not Pendine sands.

  • @welshboy0009 would u just listen to the man who posted the bloody vid! lol

  • Nice video, never saw it before...! Thanks

  • You know what I hate? when Cod kids say "ENEMY AC-130 ABOVE!" or they just insist it's a AC-130. And when you reply and say it's a C-130 they just call you a fucking retard or something. thats what I hate..

  • @Izebullet i know what you mean, they think all hercs are gunships

  • @Izebullet Whats even more retarded is people saying its fake lol

  • @Izebullet You know what I hate? When dip shits like you tell everyone else the wrong information. A in AC-130 stands for attack and was first incorporated into the C-130's name in 1967 to change it from just being a cargo plane to a plane which had the ability to do damage to the enemy. I don't mean to be an asshole but next time get your facts straight before you tell everyone else.

  • @qtrinconnections whats wrong with his facts he's stating that cod kids never heard of a C-130 only an AC-130

  • @Izebullet

Just kick them in the nuts. Simple.

  • @Izebullet Well there are dozens of variants so it MUST be an AC-130 lol.

  • was this in Top Gear

  • @tom201090, No it was not. This was an RAF practice beach landing.

  • Dumb turd ruined my sandcastle

  • they should put sand on all runways, so they can make them shorter :D

  • Awesome!! The A400M has vry big boots to fill...if it ever gets off the ground...

  • My Dads blood definitely flows in my veins. Im a woman and I thought that was beautiful. Made me a lil horny lol. thanks for posting.

  • @Redjin2005 wtf...........................

  • @69chrger I was drunk and thinking of the uniformed men inside, hubba!

  • my dad rebuilt the engines on these ive riden in them bout 5 time and ik how to start one (all 4 engines and the acc engine)

  • nice! i'd like to see a F-22 do that. no seriously :P

  • @cooldude050 I'd like to see a C-130 go upside down and then bomb the shit out of the taliban

  • @iColorado303 The C-130 doesn't bomb, I doubt any form of AC-130 bombs either =\

  • @DeadlyInertia the c-130 does drop MOAB bombs from time to time

  • @DeadlyInertia The C-130 can "bomb" in the most basic sense. It dropped the "daisy cutter" in Viet Nam and the MOAB in Iraq.
