Should have used stickier Pirielli's than the one's they had specially designed, a more track focused yet law abiding set of rubber would easily shave seconds off. It's a shame they have to compromise for durability in the factory set up.
You say the boss beats the lotus on the track , however it beats it on laguna seca where all the corners are a mile wide , on a real track and on a real road the lotus trounces the mustang , plus the boss only works as a racer take it on a poorly paved road it becomes a torture device too cruel even for north Korea to use , the lotus works anywhere

He clearly states that the Evora isn't the fastest, but I can tell you out of personal experience that it drives like a real Lotus (I used to own a 1999 Elise, and test drove about every other Lotus).
As for the Boss 302 being faster: apples/pears. 444bhp V8 against a 345hp V6. Look up the ZR-1 time from last year's test or so. Tell you a secret: the 638bhp car is faster than the Boss 302. Wow, what a surprise!

Power to weight ratio : the amount of weight ONE hp needs to drag along. The lower, the better, the faster the vehicle (car, bike, boat, whatever) will go.
So P/W ratio for the Evora = 3165lbs/345hp = 9.17lbs/hp. You do the maths for the Boss 302 with 3632lbs and 444hp. (8.18lbs/hp). The 302 has the BETTER P/W ratio, so its quite normal it outperforms the Evora.

Just watched the Mustang video. A second! Really? An extra 110bhp earns you a single second on the same track with the same driver. Obviously that makes the Mustang the greatest car Ford has ever built. It would be interesting to see what Ford Europes flagship Focus RS could do against the 302.
So the Mustang is faster. It's not as if Ford are a multi-billion Dollar company at all and the Mustang isn't a big V8 compared to a 3.5 V6. The Evora isn't bad for a car built in a big garden shed on the outskirts of Norwich eh?

Well, i dont give a damm what the top comment is, id rather have a GTR, not that the Lotus is bad, its a fact how outstanding of a DRIVER car it is, they are rarely the fastest (usually underpowered) but the experience is what makes it so worth it, but you have to drive one to discover this fact.
I think it's worth the money because it's very interesting. I love the brand Lotus and their heritage, and the car makes you feel great. it's numbers on a stat sheet may not be as good as a BOSS 302 laguna seca edition, but it is very different
The Evora is Lotus getting out of that one-trick pony phase so many car makers struggle for years to shake off. The Evora is a good first run into making more well-rounded cars. Their next cars should be just as openly impressive to drive hard and I doubt they will stop building lightweight, simple sports cars, at least as much as the law allows.

The Lotus Evora is a great little car; it's modest engine, fantastic chassis and low curb weight make it an extremely capable and rewarding car to drive. Unfortunately, Lotus shot themselves in the foot with the high asking price.
A reasonably optioned Evora (non supercharged) will set you back the same amount as a similarly-optioned Cayman S (the car which one this competition last time). Unfortunately, the Cayman sounds better and is better built.
If I were to base how I thought this car looked off this video I would hate it, it looks fat kind of... I don't know if that's the camera angle or what. However a dark grey one passed me the other day... I wouldn't care if it had 200hp. I love the way this car looks and I would buy one in a heartbeat. Drop dead sexy.
i'm really enjoying the whole motor trend driver's car of the year competition. they should have done this a long time ago!! it really shows what is important to the public with some real, honest opinions about the car's strengths and weaknesses

@greenrolaids The advantage of the Evora is that its an engaging fun to drive, responsive car. The GT-R is easy to drive but its a numb, heavy, computer controlled car. BTW I've never driven an Evora but I drove a GT-R.

@petrolhead229 most auto journalsists agree that they have refined the axle to the point if you didnt know it was there, you wouldnt guess it was there. you could also say the ass engined porsche 911 will never be a good car, and that it will send you off a cliff backwards if you breath on the throttle in a turn but thats not so anymore. as for the wheels falling off, i dont think so unless you have huge whoops on your motorways. maybe a raptor suspensioned mustang would be a good idea?

Doesn't matter what MT does a lap with...be it a Ferrari or a Ford...the fanbois are always gonna drop the comment "I'd rather have a GTR" in these videos. Sure there's love for the other cars, but seems like only the GT-R has this many people try to say that their car (which they probably have never even sat in one) is better.
Give it up. It's pointless to tell anonymous people on the internet what you'd rather have. It might have some meaning if you were a known authority on cars.

for nearly the same money you can get a nissan gtr..
Sure they are totally different cars... but for me the GTR would be in my garage way before i would put an Evora in it.

@greenrolaids The advantage of the Evora is that its an engaging fun to drive, responsive car. The GT-R is easy to drive but its a numb, heavy, computer controlled car. BTW I've never driven an Evora but I drove a GT-R.
