  • if I had that voice I would never stop singing

  • This totally cracked me up! She is AMAZING! She's something else, sure she's not of this world.

  • This women always amazes me, it has just to be only Julie Andrews lovely lady always in my heart!

  • Haha, that's great! *lol* I'd buy a DVD right away.

  • @MyKaffeekanne

Did this program have ever release?

  • Absolutely wonderful! Glad I found this clip!!!

  • This is still great entertainment even after growing up

  • oh dearest julie. this made me smile so much. thank you.

  • Have any of you remember the video of Julie singing I Could Have Danced All Night(with Richard Burton, Robert Goulet, Stanley Holloway and Maurice Chevalier) before it got deleted? I simply miss the video, could any of you, ladies and gentlemen, please re-upload it? D:

  • Oh Miss Andrews just makes me happy everytime! Thank you for making us all smile!

  • "how about a spoon full of suger to make me fist go down!?"

  • What year was this?

  • @Riddler95 It was 1972 or '73. I could look at this daily for a good laugh. It is great! Thanks for posting it.

  • @Riddler95 This was in the first episode of the Julie Andrews Hour in 1972 or '73.

  • wow, I thought you would all rejoyce in the beauty of this clip, not starting an argument. Neither Julie or Audrey deserve anything less than praise. We can only dream of having wonderful stars like the both of them these days...

  • "Saucy little baggage!" "Baggy old sausage!" That is a very good comeback xD Love Julie Andrews! She makes me happy every time I see her.

  • @Minty210 she makes me so happy to. i could probly go on for hours talking about all the thing her and her music has goten me through

  • INCREDIBLE!!!

  • I really love this video... Julie you are amazing! I adore you ;) and I hope Eliza and Mary will someday get on well :p because they are both very nice!!!

    'course I did dear ;)

  • The voice of an angel. Stunning, gorgeous, and still beautiful. We love you Julie Andrews!

  • "Didya just floiy in on your umbrella dearY? Oh ah you usin a broom these daiys?!"

    ♥ je t'aime, julie!

  • I wish I was able to give this a rating, but I know that no amount of stars could demonstrate how overwhelmingly happy I felt whilst watching this.

  • LMAO.

how about a spoon full of sugar to help my fist go down

  • I know! I've never realized it until now when I see Julie & Mary together that Julie used a slighty more poshed voice for the role. It just took me a while to figure out it was actually Julie who was playing Mary is this vid, since she's a tad older and her eyebrows are lighter. I also love how even they feet position is correct- Eliza's pointed in, and Mary's pointed out. Julie is indeed the BEST actress EVER!! Loved her in Mary Poppins & The Sound of Music (where is Maria anyways?)

  • I've noticed that too, with Julie & Mary together, for Mary her voice is much more posh. Haha I just love how even their feet is correct. Eliza's turned in and Mary's turned out (:

  • what was this for? or what program?

  • " They did A movie?" Hahahahah!

  • Amazing video!

Its so funny to see Julie making jokes of her self.

Thanks for sharing such a rare gem.

  • This is GREAT! I loved seeing her and two of her characters together like this. Too bad that she couldn't have included Maria Von Trapp and Victoria Grant in there as well! But then she didn't do "Victor Victoria" until a decade after this. And I guess she chose Mary and Eliza because they were both London character and complete opposites. Very well done and Julie has always been so very beautiful and multi-talented!.

  • I love to see that only Julie has got a shadow xD

    Thanks for posting!

  • I didn't even notice that!

  • Oh the high note at the end! Julie, you are the best! yesterday today and tomorrow!

  • This is great!!!! Thanks so much for posting!!!!!!!

  • Julie, Julie, Julie! Words aren't enough. Thank you.

  • no words can describe this, except maybe Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good Lord, I SO remember this special! At the time,I wanted to BE Julie Andrews! Always beautiful, then and now. LOVE THIS! Thanks for posting!

  • ahhhh Julie Andrews is brilliant!!!

  • oh my gosh. i love whenever eliza yells "poppINS!"

  • This is super!! :D

  • <3 Julie is the best ever <3

  • henry higgins at a howdon lol

  • I love Julie

  • Hi, I'm not very good in the computer effects thing so can some one please explain how the three charecters appear at the same time? Thank You.

  • How did she appear at the same time? I know Julie is magical but was there some kind of editing involved? I'm sorry but I don't know very much of this sort of thing.

  • I think it involves green screen.

  • Amazing!!

  • LOVE THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD AND FUNNY. nICE TO SEE JULIE DOING TREE ROLLS AT THE SAME TIME

  • the mary-eliza fight is hilarious!!!

"i made her a stage star" "I made her a MOVIE star"

    hehehehe

  • How bout a spoonful of sugar to help my fist go down! HAHA!! omgsh hilarious! I was smiling and giggling the whole time!

  • Until I saw Julie Andrews and Mary Poppins together, I didn't realise that Julie used a slightly more posh voice for the part.

And I like Julie and Audrey equally. It didn't seem to bother Julie that Audrey played Eliza in the film - why should it bother anyone else?

  • Uhh you're preeaauuud :D

  • Oh my. I VAGUELY remember this.

  • brillaint absolutly brilliant

  • Why do Hipburn fans and Julie fans have to fight together? Piece, everyone!

  • Audrey did sing in moon river though, and she was brilliant then =]

I like both actresses the same. They are both beautiful and talented.

  • Glad I found this! Just loverly! What's interesting to me in the Julie vs. Audrey debate for MFL is that Julie herself said she never felt she got the Cockney accent right, and she played the role on Broadway for 2 YEARS and even had coaching in it by a phonetics professor! If I could have my way, I'd have the movie musical played by Julie with Audrey's voice dubbed in for the Cockney parts. Hah.

  • How bout a spoonful of sugar to help me fist go down LMAO I'm using that sometime.

  • Loverly!

  • man, I love, LOVE Julie Andrews! :-) Shes my Idol!

  • it's amazing!!!

  • Really, it's been 40 years since the Hepburn v. Andrews decision was made. What's so hard about accepting that each has her own merits?

  • Baggy old sausage!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • I think that this was a clip to laugh at the movie people for not picking the right actress for the part. I love Audrey Hepburn, but Julie Andrews definitely made a better Eliza I think. Very funny!!!

  • she so begs Audrey Hepburn... she got the role in the movie get the hell over it. she was picked because they wanted a FACE for the movie and Andrews was an unknown at the time and was unphotogenic where as Hepburn was stunning. Hepburn was magnificent in My Fair Lady. Andrews has even got her hair cut short to look striking like Audrey. Andrews has done hundreds of rendidions of the my fair lady songs it's about time she moved on. I don't understand why people can't give Audrey was sooo amazing

  • Maybe Julie keeps singing them because she likes the songs, they're famous, and she's famous for singing them (she WAS in the original cast of the stage musical)

  • Audrey Hepburn did not do any of the singing in My Fair Lady. She was good but I think Andrews could have done just as well, if not better, because she would have sang with her own voice. Plus, Andrews is very photogenic.

  • LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!

  • strepitoso!

  • she sooooo talented there's no one like ,or will ever be!

  • omg i love her =]

  • haha i forgot the "or are you using a broom these days!?"

  • She is THE most amazing actress/singer ever!! Its a pity she wasn't choose to do "My Fair Lady" but on the bright side she did Mary Poppins that year and won the Oscar!!! So, how's the greatest now?? LOL

  • Lmao, yeah and the best stupid Hepburn managed to do for My Fair Lady was a nomination for a golden globe and they had to do all the extra work to dub over her voice, only one line in the whole musical was her actual voice. "Sleep, sleep I couldn't sleep tonight." They have her original track here on youtube before it was dubbed. Watch it, but I suggest ear plugs.

  • I'm not sure calling Hepburn stupid has anything to do with this. It's obvious she was neither stupid or had any decision in picking herself over MS Andrews for the role. I do agree Andrews would have been the best choice, just as Merman should have done the film of Gypsy, but....

  • Alright, perhaps the 'stupid' wasn't nesscary. She is a good actress and has her credits. I simply find it infuriating when one so amazing on broadway, where there are no re-takes, do-overs, voice-overs or any other chance for synthetic altercation or improvement is passed over.

  • are those all julie andrews ,

    its funny

    really

    i love her acting

she is also a very good singer

  • hahaha, "minie mouse or som`tin like that" && "so can an airplane" :))

  • Airplane!!!??? It's air-e--plane! ;-)

  • haha! that is so true ;)

  • wonderful!!!

    where you find it?

  • Thank You For Posting! Awesome!!!!!

  • the story I heard once was that Julie was so pissed that Audrey Hepburn was chosen over her for "My Fair Lady" that she was determined to turn in a better performance than Hepburn in "Mary Poppins". Well, Julie won the Oscar that year.

  • I love how she at 5.17 keeps her feet different with echt character. Her own are normal, Eliza's are with the toes to eachother and Mary's with the heels together :D Clever.

  • That is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen!!! She's such a genius.

  • AMAZING!

  • Oh my gosh, that last note in "I could have danced all night" always makes my heart skip a beat.

I havent laughed that hard in a while, the fighting scene was HILARIOUS!

  • How did Julie play two charcaters at once?? Including herself?! Amazing!!

Anyway love the arguing scene! Eliza owned Mary Poppins! :D

  • it's special effects.

  • Thank God the Queen knighted her a Dame a few years ago. No one deserved the honor more than she. Love you Julie !

  • Wonderful clip!

Amazing how she can makes fun of herself and her roles... and in such a charming and sweet way that it just makes you love this lovely lady even more :o)

  • I like Eliza Dolittel becurce my name is Eliza (;

  • She is so beautiful and supercool!! I loved Mary, Eliza and, of course, Julie :D Brilliant...

  • at the begining, Eliza had the shadow, after the chimney song, and then Julie had the shadow.

  • this is one of my favorites videos!

  • wow!!! this is very interesting!! i never knew Julie played Eliza Doolittle. it's so fun to watch her 2 famous characters duke it out. :)

  • She created Eliza's part on stage.

Though Warner studios thought she wasn't known enough, nor pretty enough, to play for the big screen. How stupid was that ? So Hepburn got the part but was dubbed for the singing parts.

  • to yandick,

that's not true at all. Julie was filming for Mary Poppins which is why she didn't get the role of Eliza for the film. She almost did but then Disney found how good she was in My Fair Lady and chose her as Mary Poppins to compare her with an upper class snobby nanny and a cockney tatty flower girl. Audrey Hepburn is fantastic too but she didn't originate the role first so it just shows you the orignals don't always get chosen for film or stage.

  • There are a lot of examples of this...like not cast Ethel Merman in the film version of "Gypsy" or replacing Angelia Lansbury with Lucille Ball in "Mame"...big mistakes!

  • @boffinme80 Actually, she did get passed over by Jack Warner for not being a big film name. Julie even had a contract where if she got picked for MFL, she could leave Poppins. She didn't and thus she created the film persona of P.L. Travers' famous heroine.

  • Actually, Warner thought she wasn't a big enough film name.

  • does anyone know exactly what year this came out???

  • It's the first episode from the Julie Andrews Hour, so it was broadcasted in 1972 ;).

  • I love Julie Andrews :)

The first film I ever remember seeing was The Sound of Music and I wanted to be a nun for years - ha ha! Fantastic clip. Thanks so much for posting.

  • This is such a funny clip!

  • this was so clever........you could make a musical with those two characters and julie andrews and a funny script like this

  • She's really a treasure!! Love her very much!!

    Great video!!!

  • It's really sad how she lost her beautiful voice..But she still acts! Yay! In princess Dairies they made her sing x/ And she sings low notes, like 5GUateMala said.

  • This video is a treasure! I absolutely love Julie Andrews, I always did and I always will! :0)

  • She is my great Idol!

Her voice is wonderful and she dances beautifully!!! She is amazing...

  • She is FANTASTIC!!!

  • Where's Maria Von Trapp????!!!!! :-o

  • She got tired of all those step kids and went back to the abby!

  • This may have been before SOM was made or because My Fair Lady and Mary Poppins were both set in London they just used those two characters.

  • That is so funny ^^Mary Poppins and Eliza Dolittle LOL!!! I love Julie

  • I think Julie Andrews should play Madam Morrible in Wicked when the movie comes out!!

Shame she cannot sing anymore. :(

Miriam Margoyles could do her singing voice and Julie could do the acting!

Miriam was in the London production of Wicked. :)

I just reckon Julie would be fab for that role!

    Who agrees?

  • I do believe that Julie is, once again, doing some singing!

  • But how can she? She had that surgery

  • Don't know, I'm not a doctor...but I read that she recently sang in Atlanta.

  • she could only sing low notes not those high notes

she has been practicing for many years now

  • shes so wonderful

  • Love the music, and the video is Helarious!! I laughed so hard I started to cry!! I enjoyed seeing Julie how she stands and carries herslef, and then how she stands when she's Eliza or Mary!

  • Stupendo...veramente stupendo. é trooopppo brava!!!

  • Just the most beautiful, classy, dignified lady in the world! I love Julie !!

  • That was epic!

  • Que bueeeen video ... creo que ya lo comenté anteriormente ... julie eres lo maxi ... te adoroo!! x)

creo que aqui claramente muestra su calidad actoral ... es genial!

  • love Jules. Adore her. It is like a charm.

  • I never had so much fun in my whole bloomin' life...

  • I LOVE this clip.

I never get sick of watching it..

And i throw in a giggle each time too..

    Adore Julie!!

    GO JULES!!

    Thanx 4 postin this

  • What a spectacularly talented woman.

  • Julie Andrews popularity is everlasting. Her perfomance in both Princess Diaries movies proves her elegance and charming talent in singing and acting is popular with teens yet today. Those of us who grew up with Poppins and The Sound of Music are grateful that she is still acting. JuneBug

  • Besides, if Julie had played Eliza [which she does well] we never would have had Mary Poppins as charming as it is...Julie is the only Mary Poppins.

  • what was this from? this is cool...

  • This is from "The Julie Andrews Hour", Julie's own variety show that aired for 24 episodes in 1972/'73.

  • julie andrews use to be my fav actress but now kristin chenoweth is. but shes still my second! -sulie

  • I love this!!! I wish it was available to purchase somewhere. . . !

  • i'm glad she played mary, i can't see anyone else playing that nanny but her, or 'er as eliza would say. lol

  • your right

  • i love julie andrews. shes my hero. :o)

  • I love it! I have a question though, what was said right before Mary Poppins goes "Ooh!" and covers her mouth?

  • some kind of swear word obviously

  • Nope, she says "Aoooooooooow!", like Eliza would say.

  • I love Audrey Hepburn, but what an awesome Eliza Doolittle Julie Andrews would have made in the movie. They really should have cast her in the movie.

  • well she sang all the songs so i dnt understand y not. she is incredible

  • Lots of people think that she dubbed Audrey Hepburn while the dubbing was actually done by Marni Nixon who also dubbed Deborah Kerr in King and I and Natalie Wood in West Side Story.

  • This is fantastic! I couldn't stop laughing. When was it made?

  • Okay, i'm confused. Is Julie Andrews playing those two women or are they different people? Sorry, i'm just confused!

  • It's Julie...using multiple video recordings...the footage was rather ahead of its time for 1970's TV, and there are flaws, like one of the characters not having a shadow. But the process wasn't new. Gisele MacKenzie did it on her 1958 "Gisele MacKEnzie Show" on NBC-TV where she played violin, piano and sang at the same time via film.

  • Oh! Okay, then i get it!

  • Oh, this is wonderful - Julie Andrews x3! It's amazing the way you find yourself almost believing that there are three of them. I love it.

  • Absolutely amazing! Love Julie as Eliza hahaha.

  • Great!I love Julie Andrews!

  • That's awesome! Three Julies at the same time! What more can you ask for?

  • I totally agree!!!!!!!!

Thank you! This is an amazing video!!!!

    I'm thrilled!

  • I Love you Julie Andrews xox

  • what did mary poppins say to eliza doolittleand it was so funny

  • great3!

    thanks for posting!

  • i cant believe this show isnt on DVD every julie andrews fan should sign the petition to get the Julie Andrews Hour on DVD..just google julie andrews hour dvd petition

  • Great idea...this worked for Jane Froman fans, who FINALLY got the fantastic film bio of her life, "With a Song in My Heart," out on DVD, after the 1950's move sat in the vaults with NO home video release until late 2007!

  • how did they get three of her??...

anyway i thought this was brilliantly done.. Julie is just soooooo funny, i loved her style she was just great i love that great Julie Andrews

  • such a gorgeous voice love julie andrews...classic beauty =]

  • "saucy little baggage"

    "baggy little sausage"

    hahaha omg, julie andrews

should be named queen of everything.

  • I would surely give 5 stars!

  • i watched another version of this which isnt as good, the lightings quite dark and u cant always make out what they're saying, on one part where Eliza calls Mary a Snob...I thought she said Knob, quite funny when u think that Julie Andrews is seen to be squeeky clean! The big fans know she has a mouth on her, infact thats how she started writing books with her daughter because of her use of bad language! hehe! LOVE JULIE TO BITS! xxxxxx

  • I love the sentences :)

This is a very good idea

And lines like « they made a movie? »

  • "They made a movie?"

  • Eliza: Well thats not much...Why didnt he let you play one of his big stars like...errrmm, Minnie Mouse or someone like that?

    haa haa love it!

  • I love Eliza's dancing!

  • yeah, same...

"How 'bout a spoonful of sugar to help me fist go down?"

  • so i love this...a lot :)
