  • how did i get here from a drum cover of second heartbeat bu avenged seven fold?!

  • I'm more impress with the equipment you have there on the racks.

  • I admire your Xylophone/Marimba complete with all sorts of mallets in the background, I can't wait to grow old, buy my own house; sound proof several rooms and set up a musical playground for my creativity to be unleashed upon at any possible waking hour of the day. Being a musician rules! Period!

  • You are unable to afford iphone? Check out giveaway at gifter7 . com Go and get yours

    Liked it

  • are there any plans to make this compatible with morphwiz? it would make everything a lot easier if i could create a drum track on this and then record over it on morphwiz

  • Now I don't know what I want to have.

    JR's iPhone or JR's beard.

  • DJ JORRUDES

  • Bought it, its fun, but its just a toy, not mind blowing, the editing is not that deep and the stock samples it boasts about are pretty bad, gotta use your own.

If you want to make solid beats, get something like beatmaker. If you want to make kinda aphex twin'ish beats that you cant truely control get hexatone, it is a fun toy! :)

  • @JIMINIK1 i've managed to make some controlled beats, it's just a matter of playing with it until you get a feel for the controls. there's a lot you can do with it, especially when you pair it up with morphwiz. check out my video Morphwiz and Hexatone. You really can make very controlled beats, although what i did there was nothing too fancy

  • Is this available for an iPod touch? I don't have an iPhone but i'd love to use this with my guitar.

  • yes it works on the ipod touch. if you use this with guitar you'll definitely improve, it cam get quite difficult to pick out something to play over these but it's a great app

  • Awesome, thanks mate.

I've been playing along with it, damn tricky but you get the hang of it.

  • Almost everything works for both.. Unless programs that uses the camera or telephone..

  • I don't get this how am I supposed to record guitar to any of this? none of these beats seem useful at all, unless you're doing trance hip hop or techno. I haven't seen this program first hand but I'm wondering ... any hard rock metal beats possible here? a little double bass once in a while maybe?? more something like what would be in dream theater?

looking for a ipod drum looper that could be used for writing riffs in this genre... is this good for that??

  • JR Hexatone specializes in sound sequences that would be perfect for the Drum N Bass, Glitch, Techno, electronic scene. You could do any type of groove on it, since you can import your own samples, BUT for standard rock or metal type drum parts you would want to get a different app. Hexatone is for those who want to think outside the box and do wild creative, (sometimes with a random twist) material.... For metal beats to jam to- I like a program called Thump.....

  • I see I see that's what I thought, well thank you for the very quick response. And thanks for your honesty and okay I was considering this or drumlooper but thump I'll definitely look that up I didn't notice that one before.

  • i meant to say instant drummer. not drum looper. retard. lol. (not you I'm calling me the retard, i'm tired)

  • holy crap JR can type like crazy on the ipod! haha this app looks so fun! but does it work on the ipod touch?

  • He should so use this live!

  • This and Euno are my favourite.. we're going to do a video next week... ;)

  • I've had jrhex for a few weeks.

Cant find any online tutorials for the fuckin thing.

So right now it's pretty much just a frustrating piece of shit.

  • stuff like this makes me worry that Jordan is going to be Dream Theater's D.J. not there keyboardist.

  • @endlessvoid4 I think jordan is a pioneer of music what so ever and he´ll elevate DT to a new hemisphere!

  • thats just an awesome app! :D

  • The iphone is the coolest mobile music composing gadget on this planet....

Beatmaker, Noise.i.o, Isequence and now Hexatone...

  • ha-ha sounds like some sort of aphex twin beat going on there.

  • Ten bucks??? Are you nuts??? This is awesome and amazing. Now I have to buy a goddam iPhone. Wow.

  • or an ipod touch, i think it works for that. i just bought one off a guy for $20 and it works fine :D i'm happy. can't wait to get this app

  • Android versions planned ? ;-(

  • Holy crap.

  • this is totally fantastic! will check it out now and maybe use in one of my next tracks! :)

  • I want an iPhone just for this... o.O thats... amazing

  • Jordan, you're a genius!

  • So cool, what innovation!

  • Very cool!

  • man, you're a GENIUS!!! that looks totally amazing, i'll check it out for sure. i might create a rhythm on hexaton and then doing it on my drum set. LOL

  • Yeah \m/

    Amazing oO

  • i love you man!

  • Got mine and I like the fact that I can make a loop and put it in BeatMaker!!

  • awesome, getting... NOW!

  • we will hear this on the next DT album :)

  • well...maybe!

  • Please do not Hexatone while driving. :)

  • Purchased it last night when I saw it was released. It's a pretty interesting. It's good for adding randomization to your music, however, there seems to be a fairly steep learning curve if you really want to customize & have more control over your sound.

  • Hexatone, the official DT iPhone app, approved by The Count of Tuscany! XD

  • JR always seems like the nicest person ever

  • Im sure it will work with iPod Touch 2nd Gen, as it is basically an iPhone without the phone part... the only thing is, if it needs a Microphone input, you will need a mic/headphone set for your iPod Touch.

I use Noisei.o on my iPod touch, so i can see this being no different..

Also go to App store see if it IS compatible.

Looks funky bit of kit, may purchase ;-)

  • Jordan, does it works with iPod touch??

  • Yes indeed it does. I bought it last night on my Ipod Touch, pretty interesting stuff.

  • That is a pretty damn cool application IMO! Too bad iPhones cost over 2000$ here (with one year subscription)...

  • Hey Incredible... I have a question... are you going to use this magic machine in a future DT album?

    Greetings from Chile

  • This looks like something i could spend days on end using. So cool!

  • Hey Everyone- If you purchase Hexatone and enjoy it- it would be cool if you would post a review of it!!

  • Maybe I will

    OMG I spoke to Jordan!

  • gonna recommend my friend to buy it right now. i'll be sure to have him review it if he gets it. thanks for sharing your creation with us!! would love to see more.

any chance you'll release the application you use when you play live on the iPod? looked like you were playing a mini Continuum

  • I would if I had an iPhone :o!

is this app related to the reacTogon? it seems similar in ways.

  • @JCRUDESS i posted some videos of beats that i made with it, they're nothing fancy, but they sound cool to me if you want to check them out

  • Awesome!!!

Hmmm...I'd like to see Jordan play that Marimba back there...

  • Yes Jordan, please give us a tiny peek at your marimba :D

  • the first to see this video!!!!!!!!! splendid application! jordan rulez!
