How to change speed of song with Audacity Beta

Hey nice tutorial buddy,I was wondering if u have something to say about change in audio quality after changing the tempo.Say,if I change the tempo by 10%(increase speed/compress file).Will it result in significant degraded audio quality????

audacity it's a shit. it changes the speed and the pitch too.... maybe people need to change only the speed.

When I Click the Effect Tab All The Effects Are Unselectable, Why?

to save at a slower speed you will need to : "Effects -> Change speed". change to desired speed and go

@kalansen for Saving in Mp3 u need to download a thing named lame_enc.dll and whit that you can export as mp3. but mybe by now u already know that.

File, Export (as mp3). If you save it as an Audacity project, no player will be able to play it.

The beta basically has alot more features. It's also a bit buggier. But overall, I choose the beta.

well okay, i did some reserch on it an they said it might crash 4 no reason, lose data and they said it is not complete as in the source code and all that, i got the 1.2.6 and the VST interface sucks 4 audacity, but i got mixcraft 2 back me up.

Well, basically, Audacity kinda has a tendency to crash, period, if you do something it doesn't like. Overall, I like it alot more than mixcraft.

But I would recommend having both 1.2.6, and the beta installed if you use Audacity frequently. As for the VST interface, I've never really wanted or researched that, so I dunno.......

well it doesn't crash alot, i have been using it for a long time and it has crashed like 3 times only, and audacity is good for editing audio not recording it, in my opinion, so i use it 2 sample, split, chop, add effects, u know just edit, and Mixcraft is my ultimate recording studio and its good for adding effects 2, making loops and its VST interface is soo damn good

Audacity is good for recording simple audio. If you wanted to like, mix a band's rock song, then you'd probably want to go to something else.

Hmm...I've never heard of that one. But to be honest, since it acts like it's burning a CD, you'll probably lose some quality.

I use QTfairuse. As long as you have the song authorized, it converts directly to MP3, and it's freeware! Only downside is that it doesn't work with the newest version of Itunes. But if you have a second computer, just put a version 6 Itunes on it, authorize the songs, convert them, then deauthorize. Vwa la!
