I enjoyed music like this when I was a Marine stationed at Kaneohe Bay from July '76 thru July '78.The scenery on Oahu was breathtaking!.I can now see why folks who have lived there for any appreciable length of time miss the place.Took my wife and kids on vacation to Oahu in '94.Stayed on Waikiki but went all over the island......great memories of a beautiful island and wonderful people..........
Brah reading all you frickin transplants missing home is making me all sad. I live in OC i going home for visit in a couple weeks. Going watch some UH football no worry I drink some green bottles for you guys!
@atenista76 Now you gotta find all kine ol' cassette tapes and albums fo' her! Ooo, you going have to work real hard now!! Gotta buy ol' kine cassette playah and turntable!
What a fabulous song. The songwriting is just wonderful - can just listen to this so easily with so much enjoyment. Has such a fantastic feel to it, the way really good music can take you on a magical ride. It exudes a feeling, a mood, it releases memories, thoughts, feelings...even generate fresh ideas. Great song.
Remember the days when a lot of us kids was walking around with guitars? Kalapana, Country Comfort, C&K made it popular for us. Hey, check out this guy I discoverd here on youtube "Fargenbastich"... he does a lot of covers of songs back in the day...songs a lot of us (well, maybe me) wanted to know how to play like bread, jim croce, doobie brothers. Big ALOHA to the transplants.
I know braddas and sistahs. I miss home a lot too every time I hear my favorite tunes, It's really good for the soul, but we no can undo what progress has done ovah the years. So, I've learned years ago to accept the fact that home is wea you hang your hat. The one with your wife and kids if you have any or with your true loved ohana. It works for me and it eases the pain of memory that I know is not a reality anymore. Focus on today for a better tomorrow, I say... LOL!

This is such a wonderful, entertaining tune; jus LUV this tune. The songwriting is awesome. It has such a strange, beautiful feel to it. Feeling lost....we've all felt that....the meandering lyrics and music so, so matches.
The world needs more Kalapana or Mackey Feary! They were/are such an awesome band. They wear their hearts on their sleeves, especially Mackey, and it comes thru in the music. I liked this song for alot of reasons. Everyone can relate to a time in their life when they have had these feelings. Mahalo for posting this!!

I left in 1994 and I'm afraid of going back...The old days are gone and I don't want my fond memories of the Hawaii I remember tarnished.
