Hey I know this is old news with the Corsair H70 out but I'm shopping for a bargain. Just wondering if you had the pump hooked to the CPU fan header or a 12V fan header. Corsair recommends that the pump gets 12V all the time for best performance. I couldn't tell from the video if that was a normal fan header or not.
@xTReeTooNx Actually Corsair has Shin-Etsu thermal paste on there, which is already very good. So unless you are changing it for some IC7 diamond or other top quality stuff, I would recommend leaving the stock stuff on.
hmm why does CoreTemp show Wattage on this video? Doesnt show it on mine. Or probably just a feature on these newer i7 Sockets? Probably not that accurate anyhow hehe.
Tip dont get a case with a fan on top unless you want masses of dust inside your PC. Stick with a nice size fan sucking air IN from the front or two and a ncie large fan at the back blowing air OUT of the case. I find side fans dont make a heck of a lot of difference in fact can make things worse interupting your air flow. Even my CPU follows my air flow rule. IN from the front OUT through the back.
Hi great video btw, quick question the screw dosent look long enough to go through the radiator and 2 fans. I want to do a push pull and I dont understand how you can fit another fan.
Perfect for beginners getting into water cooling. It may not be the best performing water cooler but it's way cheaper than high end water kits and it should beat most air cooling setup while being quieter than and it's easy to install! No filling/bleeding and it really is cheap!
I'm getting this soon I hope. I really hope I don't have to wait untill after easter. The package have arrived in Norway, but I'm not sure if they will send it to a post office in the easter time. If they do I might get it tomorrow.
Do the temperature get lower if you put an additional fan on it? Only bad thing with the cooler is if you buy a case with a 140mm fan at the rear and with no holes to change for a 120mm fan.
Good eye! Yes Corsair does state that you should plug the pump into a regular fan header, and plug the rad fan into the CPU fan header as the CPU fan header generally fluctuates voltages to adjust fan speed.
However in our case I had specifically disabled the cpu fan control feature in the bios, in which case it becomes just another regular connection with a steady voltage.
But as you stated, it would be best for most users to follow the directions and go with another connection to be safe.
I got this exact same i7 with a Cooler Master V8 cooler (much cheaper than this Corsair setup) and my stock temps are about 30-35. I don't understand how you got readings of 55 with this watercooling kit.
Excellent and easy to understand video, thanks for the static image of the temperatures through the comparison between the stock air cooler and the H50. Keep up the work!
Beats all air coolers, but doesn't cost too much. Perfect. Anyone who ask's me: What cooler i should buy for mild overclocking? I always answer: Corsair h50. Great review too , Merry X-Mas to all.
i own one. its great but i reckon one flaw about this is that it sucks in air that has just come out of your graphics card. the exhaust air from my 4870x2 is very hot so it didnt make sense to mount the intake fan above the gfx card. so i mounted it at the top of my case
if you got a good tempature in your case - no cable mess, intake and outtake fans and a cool enviroment with no dust it should be ok. Also power supplie is important and good motherboard. I don't know much about different mother boards, but i'm sure a quick search in google will get u some info!
i'm one of these people who ofcourse knows how to build a custom watercooling system but i just don't want to have the risk of some waterblock connection starting leaking etc. So this watercooler is kinda perfect for me and i'm gonna get it soon :)
I have a Mega Shadow and am very pleased with it. The H50 performs quite well, but even better when the fan is used as intake (so the top fan makes it a push-pull config). I'm not sure how the two compare to oneanother, but I don't feel like it'll be THAT much difference.
the Mega Shadow keeps my 920 @ 4GHz at about 65*C full load.
Yes it is, sorry for the confusion. We ran into some errors with the video and opted to make some minor changes and re-upload the whole thing. If you were one of the lucky 303 people to view it the first time then this is just old news :)
We apologize for having to do this and for the loss of your comments - Do feel free to re-post your thoughts or feedback though!
So would I rather want to spend the 60 bucks for this rather then buying a basic air cooler?

will this fit well in a CM 690 II? I know theres a 120mm fan just wondering if it actually fights the rad in it

@LKxDESIGN Should do, just about everything fits in the 690II great!

Corsair states that they do. In a push/pull configuration they show test results that claim up to a 5c drop in temps with a second fan.
As YT won't let me publish links, google search "corsair h50 push pull" and their blog post should be your first result.

by the look of the vid it seems you plugged the pump into the cpu cooler socket! which throttles the pump and damages it
