  • nirvana make a cover from this song on MTV unplugged..

  • Who is the other lady standing next to Frances sining?

  • This is probably my favorite song on Nirvana Unplugged, which is probably my favorite album of all time.

  • listen to the album version. this was a little shakey..the instrumentation is pretty tho.

  • just because it doesn't sound like the album version doesn't mean it's not good. often times live performances completely kill the original recording

  • yeah, well I did say that I like the instrumentation.

  • I don't knew the original version, but I' ve got nirvana's unplugged and I like it more

  • beautiful song.

  • funniest comments on youtube ever!!!!

  • is better in nirvana, but is very good! :D

  • srcobain, this is the original that inspired Nirvana, without its existence the Nirvana one wouldnt be there. Nirvana did a fine job in their cover too though.

  • @Grimeyhoob Nirvana would have existed if this band wasn't around.

what a dumb thing to say. Just because nirvana covered this song does not mean that the Vaselines were the bands main and only inspiration. Don't be an asshole dude.

  • this is the live version where they slowed it down, the one on vynle, cd,cassette, is faster

  • THANK YOU! Petty contrivances take us away from our soul's true purpose(s).

  • I prefer the Nirvana's version. But it's my own opinion.

  • I agree with 'ya, but they were a great inspiration for him! A great and telling song...

  • nirvana's version is their version if you hear the recorded one. yeah this one is different but Nirvana did theres exactly like the recorded version...

When you play the same song, your bound to change it when you perform. I love the Vaselines, and I love NIRVANA! THere Both Great.

  • I was inherent quality of Kurt to make these simple songs beautiful by his great voice. We miss you kurt.

  • are they touring again? i'd love to see them in America. i'm dying to hear them play live.

  • Haha.

  • hey its real fucked up how everyone out there is so f into all this and that but never what isnt so self sentric

  • The singer seems tired..????

  • hey! who can tell me who are they? i dont know them.. and why do them copy songs from nirvana..!?? are they a fan group? lol do they have more songs from nirvana? answer pleeeeezz

  • they dont copy songs from nirvana u gay...

they were one of kurts favourite bands, and nirvana have covered a few of their songs...

  • so vaselines still sings? because this video is of 2006 really? how long has vaselines been singing? sorry if my english is not good enough

  • since 1986, and by the way, nirvana covered this song, son of a gun, and molly lips, these guys are good, and btw, ur english is almost perfect

  • are u a fucking retard. this is their song which nirvana covered

  • ur an idiot. the vaselines wrote this song. nirvana cover them.

  • ye man! nirvana covered they.. not like u said...

    NIRVANA 4EVER-4LIFE

  • Nirvana covered "Molly's Lips", "Son of a Gun" and this one as far as i know.

  • this will probably offend everyone, but the singers of both bands are brutal. It hurts me to listen to it.

try the reorae version. it = good singing.

  • thats why its called grunge idiot its not supposed to be perfect and Kurt sounds fuckin amazing in nirvanas version.

  • there's a difference between imperfection and poor singing. but good try.

  • suck a nut bitch

  • lol! good try again! I can really tell you're trying your best. you get a cookie.

  • thanks

  • its called art, not pop...

  • "Pop" only means that it's POPular. That doesn't take away from its artistic merit

  • thats not as accurate as people pretend it is

  • True by the name, but pop carries much more than that, because 99% of the time to become pop you have to change everything or portray the image the record companies want thus most pop muscians arn't really musicans just doing what they're told and everything else is made to sound good, Nirvana was one of the last legit bands, and from how this sounds with respect to the band just not nearly as good, and a rule of music is don't cover a song unless your going to do it better in some way.

  • umm you do know that nirvanas song of the same name is actually a cover of this band don't you?

  • Cobain (and Nirvana) were used to do covers... Vaselines, Meat Puppets, Bowie ! Just have look on the MTV Unplugged album ;-)))

  • I dunno why everyone seems to argue all the time here.. I am far too sensitive for it, but, seeing as I am here, the song was not written by the vaselines...

  • no offense but nirvana is a better band but ive said it b4 I'll say it agian u cant beat the origianal...also ppl wouldnt hear about Kurts inspirations (ramones and vaselines)which were punk rock so if they didnt get kurt, dave, and krist into punk rock then grunge wouldnt be wat it is today

  • My idea is that if Nirvana didnt cover this song,

more than half of the people listen and enjoy the song, wouldnt even hear about it and the Band Vaselines.

  • the album version is way better, of every vaselines song. i'm sure they sounded okay back in the 80's live

  • I really like this song. I like the nirvana cover better, but this video really gets to me, especially with the female vocals. this song is amazing and both bands did a fantastic job on it.

  • the band name 'the vaselines' beats nirvana though, eh?

  • deadjunkie pls go kill yourself!!!

both versions are great..both the vaselines and nirvana rules!!

  • well said henry. Why does everyone have to argue about every fucking thing on here? both great versions

  • I always like Kurt's version, but this original version is a little more touching with the female vocal added in.

  • Every time before kurt sing this song, he said that it was wroten by the vaselines. But I still prefer the Nirvana's version :p

  • both versions are just fine to me, I believe there is not a better version...they are just diferent

  • Yep, The Vaselines wrote it, Nirvana made it standable.

    ...That's called collaboration... :)

  • well, the Vaselines wrote this song in 1980, they were one of Kurt Cobain's favorite eighties band with Young Marble Giants, the Raincoats, the Germs and the Meat Puppets. All very great bands really!

  • fuck everyone! this song is awesome and Nirvana did NOTHING wrong with it!

  • youre all idiots except joey, nirvana covered this, the vaselines covered it before nirvana did you clowns

  • this is the original.

  • nirvana played it awful, they turned this beautiful song into some yelling grunge shit

  • awful? do you know how much respect everyone, even teh vaslines, showed to nirvana for covering this song? you have no idea...

  • genios...like a Big Star,Badfinger,Television...los amoooo!!!

  • it is a good song, unfortunately it sounds as if The Vaselines are trying to be a Nirvana Unplugged cover band in this one. Their original version was about seven hundred percent better.

  • I agree. I must admit, however, Nirvana did improve on the songs tempo and grainy deliverence. Still, the original of the Vaselines is quite amazing.

  • ya dude, i head this and i was like....are they trying to be Nirvana ?

  • you are stupid blackcawksucker

  • You're both idiots. You too, deadjunkie.

  • ure both rite

  • you right

  • best song ever
