I first saw this film when I was fifteen(now 44)...I had a 12' black and white TV in my room, couldn't sleep one night, so I turned it on and Badlands was playing. It's been with me ever since.
Eightbanger - Do you know where i can find a recording of the Satie piece used in this film? It's called Trois Morceaux en forme de Poire. The only versions on iTunes are played on the piano - in Badlands it is different.
@pjbrubak The version for the movie is different, your right....try searching "Maniere de commencement" that's the name listed on the soundtrack album. But I suspect they only have a piano version on the album too...good luck.
I'm not sure what my favorite film is but this segment (music, narration, photography...etc) is one I refer back to when thinking of my favs. Just memborable for reasons I'm not even sure i can articulate though the music and innocence are probably it. Playful music and play narrorated by a young girl and her murderous boyfriend.
I saw this, once, when I was about fifteen and some thirty years later it is still in my head. There is something so understated in the direction, the photography and the acting that strips into your very soul. I defy anyone not to be moved in so many ways by this true work of art.
that for uploading the exact part the film that is my favorite. this music is so incredibly brilliant

Are you sure it's Carl Orff? That music has stayed in my head for 25 years. Haven't looked it up recently though. But you think it's Orff?

@immeris Definitely Orff...type...Carl Orff - Gassenhauer, in the search.
