I'm bummed out now. Never knew RComp could sidechain. I rebooted back into my Windows XP partition, ran Pro Tools and there it was. Turns out Sonar doesn't sidechain the way most (maybe all) other DAW's do. Guess I'll have to switch back to Pro Tools. I'll really miss the Freeze track feature of Sonar. Anyone know if Pro Tools 9 does that as easily as Sonar (I'm stuck using 7.4 LE due to the economy)?
who says mono's dead? Dave Have you listened to Damu The Fudgemunk? He's is doing some really AMAZING stuff. Oh yeah Dave what do you think of the vintage warmer plugin we know how you like your sound warm...
love the video's very informative..any plans on having Terry Brown.. for his work with RUSH... or John "Mutt" Lange... ? again really enjoy the video's.. keep em coming.
man you really ned to get polow da don on the show. also do you think jaycen joshua can come for a second episode? i love his philosophy on how to treat the low end and would love to hear more from him...
Take it easy on the paint can notice, Dave! It is totally a recognition of your process... whatever it takes! If a paint can does it, use it... so there is really something conceptual there... further it makes this painter think he can learn mixing! Seriously though, a missing guest made for a fun show. I dug the sidechaining note after the ITL too. I am a total rookie and these shows are invaluable! Thanks for doing them... good job hosting during batter's box herb!
I just recently discovered this series, and I thoroughly enjoy the information. I'm curious if the audio mafia has put out a "hit" on you guys for sharing so many trade secrets. Thanks for the valuable information, and the laughs as well. Great show, excellent topics, superior mixing tricks. . . . let's see, could add a few more adjectives. . . . no, that's it. Thanks.
I thought Smallville was my favorite show but I really love this show... I get ideas that can really help me with my career... Very useful info that helps put food on the table... Thanks A Million Dave...
The side chaining technique with the kick and bass is great for dance music played in the clubs.

you guys should do something about independent studio owners/producer/egineers. Alex Newport(Death Cab/Mars Volta) would be a great place to start!

IMPORTANT:
You should mention the "AES R128 Standard" in your show. This hopefully is going to make music more dynamic in the near future.
PLEASE!

Be Without You was indeed a great mix and song

ithink a sidechain on a kick and a 808 or sine bass would help the kick come thru nicely and still let the bass bang at a higher volume
