i saw the first mobile phone's that came to australia.. it was a suitcase with an extendable antanna. half of it was the battery and transmitter unit. the dialpad was the size of an A5 sheet of paper and you heard the unsquelched 'modem noise' of the connection initiating. which btw took about 2 minutes to negotiate/handshake.

The iPhone is actually pretty big compared to the other phones that were out at the time. Mobile phones themselves were getting smaller and smaller. Recently, with mobiles becoming more like computers, they've been getting bigger though..

Because the iPhone is great for what it can do with it's limited resolution.

However, when you have a resolution as big as the iPad why the frick don't you just have a touch screen laptop.
