@IVIoNsTa360gaming ghe pro dosnt have one b cuz pebbels art good for them bcuz they can swallow them and choke but some larger river rocks might b nice
@hobomagic1 - Buy him some complete turtle diet pellets & then things like fish (tinned fish), prawns, fruit & things as treats etc. You can also put some veg & dandilion leaves etc in your tank. Wash them first though. And just so you know, Goldfish are not a good food idea for your turtle as they are very filling and fatty, but have very little nutritional value, so keep off the goldfish. :-)
@hobomagic1 If he doesn't want to eat them, there's nothing wrong or harmful about that. There are definitely the necessary amounts of protein and calcium, among other nutrients in the better commercially packaged pellets. Goldfish are actually not very good for turtles, they aren't very nutritious and have something that blocks calcium absorption for your turtle. The guppies would be fine for him to eat, along with minnows.
@Smallvill2012 It's illegal to SELL those sized turtles, not own them. If his adult sliders had babies, there would be turtles that size. ;) Let's assume that's how he got them.
@jhood87 - Illegal? Where? Not in the UK it isnt. Most places selling turtles are selling them as babies, not adults. Ive never seen large adult turtles in a pet shop or aquatic centre for sale. I got both my Yellow Belly Sliders when they were fairly young babies. ABout the size of a 50 pence piece. Nothing illegal about that.

i want a turtle! but first i need to sell my piranhas i think, but check my tank on my video and tell me how much gravel i need to buy, if i need a dock,if so where, any fake plants, more stones,or any information plz tell me i rly want a turtle! i have a fluval 206 filter that was expensive so i think i can keep the tank clean, plz tell me what turtle i can have, and look at my tank on my channel so it will be easyer for u to give me info, plz reply quick wanna sell my piranhas.
@TheFishKeeper100 DO NOT BUY ANY GRAVEL. It is VERY harmful to turtles because it is small enough to eat but too big to pass through their system. They would be at serious risk in a tank with gravel.
@avisaltic turtles require alot of room to swim. i have a 40 gallon filled all the way to top with a above tank basking area and he has no problems swimming or getting up the bask. just because the tank is 20-40-55 gallons doesnt mean that is what it is, when you only fill it half way or less. 1inch of the shell requires 10 gallons of water..10 full gallons
@avisaltic It's actually more dangerous for turtles to be in shallow water. They are natural swimmers, but in water that isn't at bare minimum, two inches or so higher than their shell is long, they are at risk of flipping over and drowning because they can't right themselves. In normal conditions, with adequate water, they could simply swim down to turn.
my turtles would domanate that tan i have them in a 30 gallon it looks like your how do yu keep the water so clean i have the same type of filter you have but it still gets realy dirty
dude fucking 20/10 thats like 10 times better than mine ima steal it....jk can someone help me on how to get a vid from my camera to my laptop on to youtube?
O_o is that cardboard? If it is, take it out. Its O.K, but certainly not the best choice. You should go to a pet shop and buy a floating turtle dock. I suggest ZooMed because it is cheap and it looks cool, too. And I also suggest you put the thermometer in the corner. Turtles tend to break the glass and the water gets toxined by the fluid inside. Beesides that, nice tank setup you got there!
sure the 10 gallon per inch rule is good to go by. but seriously. its not completely necessary. im not saying to put a 6 inch turtle in a ten gallon tank. but at the pet store theres like 30 RES in a tank that couldnt be more than 150 gallons. granted theyre small. but still. the 10 gallon rule isnt always correct.
waay too small for all of these animals to be in one tank.. There has to be 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell on EACH turtle. Having six three inch turtles means you should have AT LEAST 180 gallons of water..
i really like ur setup, i wish i could do something like this with mine but my turtles are to big and so is the tank hah, im thinkin about just making a basking spot out of the tank and a ramp going up to it so i can fill the entire tank tho...55 long gallon (look on my channel if u want =D)
yes you take the milk crates or somthing im pretty sure if you use very good styrophone or even driftwood that floats if you want and you can probably tie the driftwood down so it wont move
oh thanks the tank was only 25 bucks everything else was free except the turtles fishes filter heater and airpump but it wouldnt cost alot to make a tank like this
Hey I love it. I have 5 yellow bellied sliders and some of them are getting too heavy for the dock that I bought at the pet store. Thanks for the cool idea to do a homemade dock. I think homemade things are better anyway.
awsome XD what do you feed them? I herd feed turtles meat and fish foods can make them more aggressive. vegatables and plant based foods keep them more placid. is that true? how many turtles do you havE? how big do they get? are the tropical or cold water. because i thought they were tropical, but aren't those coldwater goldfish in there with them? sorry for asking so many questions. I might get some turtles.
oh no problem ppl always ask me questions i feed them salmon cod tuna pellets betta's and other fishes =P i give them romain lettuce once every now and then.
i have 6 but then my friend gave me one of his cause it was about to die and it died a few weeks back so i have 6 now and it is living with 7 fishes 4 feeder goldfishes 2gouramis or however you spell it and 2 rainbow sharks and 1 betta which im using to feed them with.
they are more tropical but can adapt well id keep the temp 80F-86F
go watch my new one in my vid response it shows you how i to make it if you like i can also do a walk though tutoral if you like or questions and stuff
ohh i just saw the ending of ur vid and ur turtles have the same thing.... i was just worried because this is my 1st time haveing a res but we had 1 when i was like 4 and he was missing a leg.. duno how it happend we saw him on the road and we took him home cuz he was injord but annyways i was just worried because on other vids peoples turtles dont have that little line down their turtles shell....
i have a question 4 u.... i have 2 baby res and both of them have a little white line down their shell not all the way down their shell it kinda looks like some of the shell got scratched and theirs white under the shell.. plz reply
hmm maybe you should get a doctor turtle that is a white block that you put in your water and it releases calcium and stuff and make sure your turtles get uvb or direct sunlight and make sure they dont stay in the water all the time
damnnice set up i gotta setup with rocks and crap like that but it a bitch cleaning so i was thinknig about doing something like urs cpet use cork bark i got a baby res and a miss map i just had a couple of ?'s how did u do that lighting it looks like u use a reg basking light and florescent light how did u do that setup and also how do the turtles do in deep water i heard that they can drown in deep water
actually nope the light i am using for the heat is a outside light thats used in my front yard, and i am using a purple-ish light and for the uvb light i use the reptisun 5.0 26w compact light and actually RES love to swim and your suppose to have 1gallon of water per inch of turtle. LOL and it isnt really a bitch cleaning the rocks i have a special vaccume made for cleaning up water and stuff and i just lift up one rock and put the vaccume sucker thing in and it sucks everything in =P
nice but iwarn you from experience if u put more water u are gonna neen to get a bigger filter and probably a canister filter the cheapest one is 80 bucs from pet smart but it keep watter crystal clear for like a month with a half water cahnge every 2 week or so but nice work
that one is working pretty fine but my moms friend who had like huge arowanas and jpn koi has a few fluval 304,404 and such and he might give me one so yeah dont worry i have some experience as well ty for the tip tho =)
I like the set-up. Where did you get the material for the dock? I'm just thinking about what I'm going to do when my turtles get bigger and I need to upgrade my tank. =)
thanks i spent 2 hours designing it,i just used the white plastic thing with the squares as you can see that i use to support it and block the heater i just simply put some tiles over it and the tiles are rough so they can grip their claws into it and my turtles love it because my basking light warms up the tile so they can dry off and stay warm at the same time its really easy to make all you need is the plastic which you can find in most petstores. i will make a vid of the dock and show you
you need more water in your tank

dumaaaaaa 3 years ago
i give it a.. 4
dumaaaaaa 3 years ago
why cause there isnt enough water ?
xkillerx 3 years ago
nah cus in my opinion a 10/10 is like a planted river setting ^^
mine are probably 4 too lol
dumaaaaaa 3 years ago
if you have done your research then you would know that your not suppose to have plants with turtles cause they will eat them....
xkillerx 3 years ago
if only you knew.. water lettuce, anarchis, moneywort, they are all fine and is a vit a supplement to turtles..
dumaaaaaa 3 years ago
yeah i know that and i dont think you could keep plants in there for only so long until your turtles eats it...
xkillerx 3 years ago
course it will eat it, thats why you take clippings and grow them (outside) and re-introduce every so often
dumaaaaaa 3 years ago
that works too, but only in the spring and summer time if i brought my plants outside they would probably die cause its so cold
xkillerx 3 years ago
well i know for anarchis you can just let them live in a bowl near the windows.. really they can live at any temperature higher than 40F lol
dumaaaaaa 3 years ago
lmfao then it wont survive where i live
xkillerx 3 years ago
even indoors?

actually nope the light i am using for the heat is a outside light thats used in my front yard, and i am using a purple-ish light and for the uvb light i use the reptisun 5.0 26w compact light and actually RES love to swim and your suppose to have 1gallon of water per inch of turtle. LOL and it isnt really a bitch cleaning the rocks i have a special vaccume made for cleaning up water and stuff and i just lift up one rock and put the vaccume sucker thing in and it sucks everything in =P
