He wrote the song for himself, so he gets to perform it however he wants. If he wants to sing the lyrics backwards he can. Got it? Thats what 90s rock was about. I don't think he has lost his voice. I think that the change of the band line-up has screwed up their timing live, and the way he sings has changed, not from age, but from getting accustomed to singing and performing newer material. Remember, they are also using newer gear on tour and mic is clearly way too sensitive.

The whole attitude that, people aren't perfect, we aren't robots, etc. They tend to care more about their fans having a good time, not just getting every single note right, as may be the case with most mainstream artists.
