The blu ray of this movie sucks. There is no trailer or any special features. I wish this featurette appear on the blu ray or dvd, but it does not. What a shame.
Arnold Vosloo couldn't match Liam Neeson in the duff sequels but no one could have. Vosloo will always be associated with the type of villainous roles at which,to his credit, he excels.
I just realized the lead surgeon at 1:22 is the same woman who played Alex the Nurse in An American Werewolf in London. Her name is Jennifer Ann Agutter.
@doktorkloride Unless this was pointed out already, you'll be interested to know that the Caucasian doctor with the glasses in that scene (to the far left) is John Landis. The writer and director of An American Werewolf in London.
Darkman was really great Action/SCI-Fi movie - reminds me The Shadow (1994) and Spawn (1997). Liam Neeson and Frances McDormand were great.. Even SCI-FI movies were much better in the 90's
I was a movie about a comic - book style hero sans comic book. Larry Drake's character was such a 180 degree from the likeable Benny, such suave, cool evil !
Liam Neeson plays the classic " tortured hero " very well. Proof that ritish / Irish can do excellent American accents. The reverse, sadly, isn't true.
This is one different superhero movie. It's not like those where an average nerd is bit by a spider and he transforms into a superhero. Darkam had to appear because he HAD to. Peyton Westlake was disfigured by Durant's henchmen and he came back as a half-crazed vigilante.
This is a really well-done featurette, and I've seen quite a few of them. They could have done a hell of a great featurette on Pablo Ferro, who did the title sequence and Westlake's "freakouts".
I doubt anyone can confirm, but is that Peter Cullen doing the narration?
What kills me is that we know there are deleted scenes and some behind-the-scenes material, yet whenever they release it on DVD, it is always barebones with no features. (From what I recall, there are two DVD editions, the standard edition and the trilogy pack, both of which I own.) Damn it, the fans want the extra stuff! Give us the deleted scenes that Bruce Campbell talks about in his book, and some of these interviews, and possibly even the TV pilot! Maybe in a 20th anniversary set...
you mean it is included in the region 1 dvd? the first one universal released? if it was i'm disappointed from them bc they did not added a featurette in the Child's Play 2 dvd!!! bad universal!!! -.-
@CineRecon It is hard to find on DVD, but it's easier to find on blu-ray. Believe me, I searched almost every store and video place in my town and couldn't find it. So I went ahead and bought it through Amazon, which ended my search for this movie. Now I watch it anytime I want and enjoy it.
Again this movie is easy to find on blu-ray at any store, so if you don't mind that it's on blu-ray, buy it! Just go to either store, Best Buy or Walmart. I've seen these stores having this movie.
I second that this is the ultimate revenge movie in my opinion! He makes those motherfuckers suffer! Heh! Whoever thought Qui-Gon Jinn could be so damn sadistic! LOL !
man i loved this movie(and series), i have all 3 movies, the 3nd one sucked ass. the second one was a good sequel but they should have kept Liam Neeson as Darkman, because Arnold Vosloo sucks as Darkman
I got it too they dont have the trailer for die darkman die that sux ass and THIS FEATURETTE AHHHH they do suck haha but im glad sam raimi thought of this charactor and made this movie then the other two came out as well XD
It's on DVD, but we shouldn't hold our breath for a special edition anytime before hell freezes over. Still, with Universal sitting on such great stuff as The Island of Lost Souls, The Uninvited, and The Woman in Black, that's no surprise.
This was the first I ever saw from Sam Raimi and Liam Neeson.
krisj827 4 months ago
Mission Impossible 2 blatantly ripped this movie off so bad. So did the Wolverine Exile comic series. Raimi should sue them both for plagiarism.

It's like Liam Neeson said. This is a movie with a tragic beginning and a tragic life "after the accident".

by the way...¿why was this movie rated R?
murdlok 3 years ago
It is rated R for some pretty brutal (though cartoony) violence and if I recall, some profanity.

I was not a fan of this movie mainly because i saw it as a kid and it scared the hell out of me.
