Macs are always overpriced and technological behind Windows PC computer.

PC has GTX 295 & ATI 4870 x2 for gaming. apple has 8800 GT

PC has intel i7 965 $1k CPU(8 cores with hyperthreading); apple uses server cpus. 2 xeon so they can have 8 cores...horribly expensive. $2100+ for 2 xeon 3.2ghz.

DDR2 is old, especially DDR2 800. $50 for 4gb. apple charges $500

1tb HD costs $87, apple charge $300

I don't blame apple charges for premium dollars, there are a lot of unread and uninformed people.

ATI 4870 is a nice addition for apple. 4870 x2 been out 8 months

DDR3 1066 is slow, us PC users has DDR3 2000.

apple is far behind with hardware. It's sad how much they charge for obsoleted stuffs.

i built my supercomputer for less than $2k that can run crysis at 2560x1600 on VERY HIGH, watch bluray & hd dvd movies, work with photoshop cs4 that use gpu-parallel computing... that is far superior to a mac pro that is $6k.

And what do you need gaming for?

You don't know that for a fact.

You can get a used Mac Pro system (usually a Quad Core) for $1,500 approx. I've seen a lot, and I recently purchased my Quad Core [used] for $1350. I love it, I think it's the best purchase I ever made.

Plus, I don't need to watch BluRay on my Mac. I have a BluRay player hooked up to my Sony TV anyway, so why would I care?

I also don't play Crysis, and rarely game. I need a good Mac for work cause they have better programs than PC systems.

@loneknight97 Yeah, and plus, Macs can play Crysis. All you need is boot-camp (you get it free with every mac purchase) and a descent Windows Operating system. In which their were plenty that weren't even mediocre. But actually, although macs can run windows, macs are mainly meant for professional work, thats why macs are so powerful and easy to use. With all their features and programs, such as photoshop (what windows live is copying), iLife, iWork, Aperture, Logic and Final cut etc...

@CrazyycclowN Yep except I hate how everything is being judged with Crysis. I have played Crysis before, It's a mediocore game. It just tests the graphics of your computer. A real test would be 3dmark which tests your whole system , not just your freaking video card. I have recently upgraded to a new 2010 mac pro, with an ATI 5870 video card, because it renders HD movies faster. And yea, Bootcamp is great especially with Windows XP Sp3 which is almost immune to viruses.

Whatever your computer is, it's not a supercomputer dude. There's no way a supercomputer is under 2k alright. And if you built your computer, it can't be compared to the Mac Pro. Mac Pro is a manufactured computer and you can't compare the two. Also, I really doubt you can build a PC that's got the Xeon 5500s and everything and beat the Mac Pro in cpu performance and be under 2k.

You've got the system I want. I currently have a MacBook Pro and a PowerMac G4 dual 450Mhz, but the G4 either needs an upgrade or to be replaced.
