  • I don´t see any point using Gibson logo. People might think the guitar is one of those cheap chinese copies.

  • brother what varnish you used?

  • Dud! Say, how you make a logo on head? Also, when you start to work with clearcoat, your guitar was laying on box all time, or you pick it up in the air?

  • Were did you get the Gibson logo that thing is awesome

  • You painted on the gibson logo? nice :)

  • @stopspillinthebeans Only because I wasn't going to sell it or pass it on as ...

  • @jwhambone79 other than that it's amazing, now I really want to make one myself, and also i love the upside down truss rod cover, i just did that to mine :)

  • @jwhambone79 how did you do the gibson logo and what type of paint did you use to make it?

  • It's nice to see a good cherry spray can finish since I'm going to be using this method on an Epiphone Dot I'm working on. Thanks for the uploads.

  • I'm glad you found it helpfull. The cherry looks great. Better than I can show in the pictures.

    Good Luck!

  • @jwhambone79 Could you tell me what kind of layering you did?

  • I cant remember exactly. The red went down pretty easy. Was the tint I wanted within a few coats. I used 4-5 cans of clear coat. One can of red is sufficient. You have to be carefull to go very light on clearing the red. It will dissolve the color very quickly if the first coats are "wet" at all. After a few coats you can load it up pretty good.

Also, the first coat I sprayed it was too humid and it fogged out so I had to sand it down some and start over...

  • @jwhambone79 Damn that's a lot of clear. I guess you had to do quite a few layers of clear between reds then? (sorry for all the questions, this is my first finish job).

  • @jwhambone79 What kit is it? :)

  • the pickguard looks wierd

  • this is a truly nice sg!

  • Thank you!

  • you should of made it black . it would of look like a tonni iommi sg if it was black with the cross inlays

  • dude howd u do the inlays??? especially the gibson logo ive been lookin for that!

  • The logo was just a vinyl sticker cleared over.

I found the project guitar on ebay.

  • mate thats amazing!! how much does it cost?

  • Thank you. You can find the kits from $200-$300

  • Hey J where did you get this sg kit at and did it come with the inlays or did you install them?

  • you make it look so easy! great stuff mate!!

  • If I can do it anyone can! Thanks for commenting. J-

  • Dude i was just thinking about recreating Tony Iommis sg then i found this! where did you get that kit?

  • what song is this??

  • Higher Power by Boston

  • thks!!! by the way awesome guitar

  • wow is a realy Divine sg

  • how many cans of paint did you use on the body along with clear not counting the neck?

  • I used less than one can of red and about 4 cans of clear for the whole thing. If I were doing just the body I wouldn't get any less than 3 cans clear.

  • glad i found this...im getting ready to restore a 73 gibson sg wanted to see what stew mac red nitro looked like...thanks
