  • Crikey! see the lady standing standing against the advertising hoarding @2:03. Nowadays plod shut the road and have a 5 mile exclusion zone!

  • Oh so true, but there again today it would not be a team of experienced Trafpols who has done it all before and know what is a risk and what is not.

It will be a single PC (or a pair of HATOs) who have learnt it all from a book or computer simulation. God I sound like Clarkson!

  • Great Retro Vid again. I use to drive an

FL10, Luckily it wasn't that one. i agree with randy, one hell of and old beast to drag that thing through loaded.

  • Great vid. Looks like a new truck (Volvo FL on its side) at the time as well.

  • How do you get the airbags under the trailer when the trailers basically sitting flat to the road?

Class vids. Keep them coming lol

  • When something that big falls over it is very rare, it goes completely flat. In this case, it was on the kerb and so we had a little gap to get a starter bag in. They are about a foot square and just lift it enough to block the vehicles frame and lift again till you have some height. You dont need a lot because if you put your compressor on suck, you can then make even the big bags go down to just a few inches high and that is often enough to get them in.

  • In the event the vehicle is flat to the ground, then we use something called a toe jack (shaped like a leg and the toe comes up). You can usually find something to start a lift on. If all else falls you lift the axel side with the recover vehicle or a standard jack (so you are tipping it the wrong way) and then slide a timber in, for it to pivot on. Then when you let the axel side back down, the other side comes up and you are ready to slid the bags under.

    Hope that helps Regards Andy

  • Ah i see. I live just off a main ferry route with all the Irish wagons coming through the place and theres been many truck accidents over the years and have often wondered how they initially start the lift.

    Thanks for that info Andy.

Is it a easy industry to break into?

  • Interesting and unusual video - you guys are so relaxed and make it all look so easy, but I bet it's not! It is also nice to see what your wife looks like dressed :-)

BTW who or what is a Reggie Perrin?

  • Rising damp among others
