@GypsyTheft they have a long sorted history together, on and off, and I really believe Stevie loves him still. He loves her also, he is just always in a power struggle with her
"When you say 'Now you're going home' who are you talking to? I'm talking to YOU!" Haha. I love how they still write songs about each other. They fight like a married couple. :)
I like how after knowing this woman for all these years and all the songs they've written together he's still trying to tell her how to write her songs. LOL!
The shifts in tense and person and the lack of continuity in Stevie's songs are the reasons her fans are still trying to figure them out after 30 years. She knows exactly what she's doing with all her ambiguous lyrics.
You know what's funny is that I didn't notice the tense difference that Lindsey brings up - until I watched the video!! It's definitely not "correct" as Lindsey points out (and I love them both, so I'm not taking sides) but I think Stevie's point is valid that the listener will just 'get it.' Great song - and awesome to watch them create.
It was a treat getting to watch them work together and discuss the music without any fighting. I haven't heard the song - but no matter whose way it would have been done, I know I'd like it. To me noone can produce Stevie's songs the way Lindsey can.
why is she not in the music hall a fame as a solo artist is beyond me. yea she is with the mac but why not solo too.she is truly an icon to the female music industry( that is gut wreching to listen too even without instruments) my favorite song off syw album
Absolutely amazing. I especially love the shot of Lindsey doing his vocals, and how you can see Stevie's painting just beyond him. Beautiful. Gosh, Stevie's voice...it is just something else. No one sounds like her. No one. Incredible.
I just love listening to her sing on this. Her voice is so beautiful when she is just in here singing. I just blows me away. She sounds better just here by herself than when its all produced on the album. I wish I could see her record smile at you!
I am going to publish a clip of her singing with Sheryl Crow as Sheryl plays keyboards in the living room t in a couple weeks. It completes validates what you said. Her raw abilities are mind blowing and the fact that she can go home on a weekend and write two of the most amazing songs you'll ever here while playing with her dogs. Thats real talent...
@too2tango This clip is so clear,it's much better then my dvd rip,do you have the entire docu that you could possiibly up load?I would really, really appreciate it,pls help a girl out,I have watched clips that others have uploaded and the quality is not even close to yours.
It amazes me that Lindsey would even feign to know more about lyrical and poetic verse and beauty than Stevie. He should stick to mixing and not even ATTEMPT to get her to change lyrics in ANY way EVER. Everyone has their strengths, and lyrics are hers. I love Lindsey, but you don't see Stevie jumping over the chairs splicing tapes, do you? Same same.
I wish Lindsey would just let Stevie do things her way, they're her songs. It's not fair for her. I mean Lindsey is awesome but he gets his songs how he wants them and he changes Stevie's.
Lindsey was just suggesting. That's the way they work together. When I first heard the song and heard the tense change it seemed alittle off, so I understand Lindsey's point of view. In the end, nothing changed. I see nothing wrong with discussing the matter. Stevie is strong enough now, she can handle Lindsey.
Really cool to see them go through the creative process. Stevie is being a bit defensive, but I think she really wants Lindsay's opinion, if not his approval.
I like seeing how vulnerable Stevie is in respect to lindsey mostly constructive critisim. I love this song play it to work and back always. thinking of my EX.
P.S. Lindsey tries to hard and is a lil anal reten. K!
its the poet that she is and always will be!!!

I really enjoyed seeing these two work together without Lindsey ignoring Stevie or talking over her, being sarcastic with her, etc.

Any friction between these two people that i admire & love, no matter the cause of the friction it always has a sexual tension vibe to it...
