  • I wish he would have lived to see it fall...Rest In Peace with your beloved June

  • First of all: Im a little drunk writing this.... anyway.... now my comment:

    1. This video gives me the goose bumps

    2. Cash is the greatest performer there ever was and there ever will be

    3. I only hope that the one person who dislikes this only clicked it by mistake. If not.... MAY HE ROT AND BURN IN HELL !!!!!!!!!!

  • @markusalcudia AMEN BROTHER!

  • @markusalcudia YES this is all true, cheers! :)

  • A true classic! I remember my parents having this album and I played it so so many times. I was ~5yrs old then, now 46. I remember the day I heard he passed, Johnny Cash, you are missed!

  • ho the hell disliked this video -.- lol :P i love this song and this is one hell of a man who really knows being poor and being pushed down

  • One of my mother's conservative friends wouldn't let her daughter listen to Hilary Duff because she was too "provacative." I was the same age when my mom bought this album for me. Guess that's why I'm so fucked up. Depends on your point of view I guess.

  • this man....<3

  • I watched this in the early 70s ... while I was doing borstal. I was a young lad . I got caught trying to escape ( grassed up by fellow inmates- while on a welding course where I made a false hacksaw blade and replaced it with a real one ) and spent many hours watching the pidgeons and starlings through a metal window . Maximimum security . I didnt appreciate it .... I sure do now , I dont regret the memories though . I ended up doing 12 years .

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THESE

  • One person got transfered to Alcatraz the night before....

  • There will never be another Johnny Cash and that is a true fact! Johnny Cash brought freedom to America and we all love him 50 years down the line! :)

  • is there a studio version of this? not that this version isnt great, the reactions are the best

  • @animalman1122 I'm slowly going through the footage available and synching the songs with the sound from the CD. However, I'm not sure where to find a studio recorded version.

  • i wish i would have been in jail:(((

  • lucky ass prisoners

  • git-it ta hell in here boy lmfao

  • @adrianmrmonk oh gotchya..ya thats a fuckin retard

  • @adrianmrmonk what one fucker..

  • @sunnyDj2

that one fucker was probably the guard who brought him the water......

  • Sorry, couldn't hear ya. I was talkin. XD

  • @ nutsack666 - I'll decide how I want to 'take' or interpret something, thank you... Patronising, inexplicably "lol"-worthy pulp courtesy of total strangers aside, Johnny Cash is a LEGEND. Respect.

  • Comment removed

  • Dingalingring- Johny Cash- is indeed unique and Happy New Year to you... Johny Cash fan...

  • 1969? omg ... this song is still as good as it was back then,i'll tell you that!

  • the fucking best!!!!

  • BUNKER!!

  • i guess you play to the audience lol

  • 1 prison guard voted this video down, lol

  • @mmaghfai Most prison guards are just doing time with the rest of the inmates.....you just dont understand....

  • @LimpingCrow I probably won't understand mate because I have never been inside a prison cell either as a convict or a guard....Thanks for sharing your point of view though ;)

  • @mmaghfai It is said that "freedom" is when you have nothing left to lose..

Your welcomed Sir, lets keep it that way, lol :)

  • starkville city jail is cut out of the middle of this anyone know where the full one is by any chance

  • i think people should transform the prisons into retreat centers and by that way help the prisoners.

  • he sao god dam country its comeing out his ears

  • you know how people say you got balls if you do something outrageous????...

Well, Johnny Cash has the biggest balls ive ever known!!!!!!!

  • i hate fucking san quentin love this song

  • great song

  • what happened at 1:44?

  • @BoxingMadLad he knows the water there is crap he purposely asked for it so he could do it.

  • @BubblePants444 I know that but i just didnt know what he was doing stamping on the ground?

  • @BoxingMadLad he was stomping the bowl they gave him cuz he threw the water down.

  • Johhny was so awesome!

  • Sheer respect for the man....RIP Mr Johnny Cash.

  • I hated country music growing up in the 60"s and 70's. My dad would crank up the AM radio whenever he heard a Johnny Cash song, and I would cringe. Now, I'm in my late forties, and listened to the song "Hurt" and got turned on to Cash. I started listening to more of his music and realized he is one of the most complex and versatile artists of the twentieth century. He was no country hick. He could be the best story teller in modern American history.

  • he made people believe..

love him for being so damn different..

  • They look a very very thankful and amazing audience to play for :)

Regards their mistakes, they for sure deserved a decent show like this.

  • un grand merci pour cette video . j adore ce grand monsieur !

  • I do believe many of them are murderers, rapists, did things we could never. And they deserve to be in prison. That never meant they stopped being humans. If you're going to Hell, listen to Johnny Cash on the bus toor there.

  • 1:10 -1:20

  • i guess he would have never liked to be called a messiah. JC loved Jesus.

  • I love this guy, he truly was a messias!

  • This has song (the live version) has always been my favorite Johnny cAsh song. This is the first time I see video of it. Just as I suspected based on the audience's cheers on cd, I somehow felt that the audience, convicted cons as they were, were made to feel Human and free, even if for only a short while.

    Cash won that crowd over.

I guess what I'm getting at is , even though imprisoned and whatever their crime, a part of them can still be human; even if just for a moment.

  • @pozestcom

Good analysis. I was thinking the same thing while I was walking to work today listening to it on my ipod.

  • @pozestcom You are very right sweetie, alot of times we dont know why they commited a crime, and there are some who truly are truly innocent

  • Where can I buy the dvd this came from?

  • what an amazing video. He was a great american legend.

  • merle haggard was there, and the rest is history !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Merle Haggard was out of San Quentin by 1969. He saw Johnny Cash in San Quentin earlier on.

  • He must have done Hard time in san quentin! I don't know much about johnny cash himself though. I never really dig up history about singers or actors

  • "only the slaves and the imprisoned ones knew how to sing about the freedom. "

  • my uncle was there he says it was like listing to fredom

  • @canyour123 well then you uncle was a naughty man

  • @canyour123 oh i bet he did feel that way...can i ask what he was convicted of, how long a sentence. if he's released?

  • he didn't step on the cup, there was a bug or somethin that he pulled out and stomped on

  • what did he do with the cup:P?

  • Never will be another JOHNY CASH.

    and that's the fact.

  • @praslin05 - I love Johnny and I agree with you, but it's worth adding that there will never be a duplicate of anyone in this world. Everyone - whether they're the legendary Johnny Cash or not - is a unique individual.

  • @Dingalingring lol. clearly its just a saying for a very unique and special individual. johnny made a huge impact on many people and touched many hearts. he was truly an exceptional human being. not to be taken literally.

  • Looks like that was the one time is was worth going to jail, hell year dood

  • love Ca$h

  • I love this clip!

He's stepping on authority (the cup!) and look at the men. They all look like boys on christmas day!

  • there will never be another one like Johnny Cash

  • fills me with tingles, singing truth to power

  • Thanks for the trip down Mermory Lane! RIP, dear sir.
