What a sweet version of this song. I have a Bible Study on Daily-Bible-Reading about Jesus Goes to Gethsemane to Pray. Thank you, Jesus! Thank you God, for giving Your Son!
6 people don't know Jesus !! ='( ....i can't help but cry as I am most grateful for the gift given. He is my savior, my best friend, my idol,my hero; the man i want to emulate in my daily life. He is how I define PERFECTION and LOVE, and on him; and him alone I will find the peace as he gives it for I am NOT A THING without him.
I played Judas in our local Passion play. While we had the scene in the Garden of Gethsemene, this song was sung by a 5 year old boy in our chorus pit. Every night during the show, I was just off stage because I was in the next scene and I was weeping like a baby. Such a powerful song.
I love the whole album of Stories of Jesus. My family likes them too and I can't wait to teach the songs to my children someday. Beautiful video. Thank you so much for sharing. Happy Easter. :)
i believe with all my heart, soul and spirit. that calvery... his willing sacrafice on the cross. was as a direct result of what he decided to do in gethsemane. he had to choose. as a man, at the time. no man wants to suffer , at the hand s of what he loves the most. no man wants to suffer at all. his humanity showed in his request to GOD at garden. GOD knew what JESUS would do. JESUS HAD TO DECIDE FOR HIMSELF. GOD will not tamper with onyones free will.PRAISE BE TO GOD!
To all those who keep contradicting that Gethsemane was a part of the atonement of our lord. I ask Why? Why do you fight so hard to disprove another persons beliefs. I find it is much more effective to love those around you regardless of their beliefs.
If it is that important that you feel a responsibility to correct someone, I would hope that first you would become as a little child, open your heart, search the scriptures and pray to know for yourself what is true.
This precious song has touched my heart. It brings me to tears every time I hear it.The words to this song and the story and message it shares absolutely strengthen my testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. It helps me feel closer to Him and even more grateful for the sacrifice He made for me.

The question is, was the atonement in the Garden of Gethsemane or Calvery? In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul stresses that Christ's death was of primary importance in the atonement. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-3 he wrote, "I delivered unto you first of all...that Christ died for our sins." Throughout the New Testament it is the death of Christ that is stressed. Never is the Garden of Gethsemane mentioned as playing a role in the atonement. Instead, it is the cross that is emphasized.
Galatians 6:14 "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world."
Philippians 2:8 "And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
The word atonement does not actually appear in the verses I used or the ones in the comments to which I am responding. Nevertheless, it is truly comforting to know that we are redeemed by Christ, or as it states in Romans 5:9 "being now justified by his blood."
@EricsAmanda This is the only verse that has Jesus sweating "as it were" or like great drops of blood. Did this actually say Jesus Bleed or was it like blood.
His skin was whipped off by scourging,
His beard was torn out of his cheeks,
His head pierced with thorns,
His face marred more than any man. He was unrecognizable. The Bible says he was more marred than ANY man.
His hands and feet were nailed through with thick spikes,
@Exodus314IAM i saw a program awhile back... a doctor said he knew about people sweating blood when they thought they were gonna die. a man a plan that almost crashed sweat blood. i don`t remember what the condition is called. JESUS knew what was going to happen to him. his fleah want out... but he listened to his spirit.
While I do not agree with the idea of scripture bashing, I thought I would include some thoughts here simply by way of presenting an idea. I would like to reference first Luke 22:39-44.
39. And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of olives [aka the Garden of Gethsemane]; and his disciples also followed him.
@GraceAlone71 thank you for visiting and commenting. As answered in previous responses, Jesus' suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane was the beginning of his Great Atonement journey, and is meant in no way to diminish his suffering on the Cross, which was the culminating event. Jesus is the Savior of Mankind, who shed His blood for each of us, beginning in Gethsemane during his powerful Intercessory prayer, and concluding on The Cross when he proclaimed in his final breath "It is finished".
my sister was a sophmore in highschool she was in seminary when my mom picked her up and took her home because learned about the atonment and gethsemane and then she heard this song she came outside and balled . . . . . .i do believe in jesus christ and i always will
I went to a funeral today they played this song twice and I cried both times. I absolutely LOVE this song. When the primary children sing this is for a sacrament presentation it touches my heart. Just what I need to keep me going on the right path.
help her by asking her to sing Thankyou Mormonsoprano for your advice and help. I know that I am doing the right thing for myself and Livvy-Lou. She-like Hannah-has a true musical gift but is very nervous about singing in Public. So at primary, they are going to sing a verse of a hymn at first and gradually give her more confidence as a gift like hers should be shared at Chapel if nowhere else! (Some say Chapel, some say Church, some say Temple-which is it please,I dont want to offend anyone?)
@1Ethnie Technically speaking, the "Chapel" is the room inside the "Church" building where Mormons hold our large one-hour combined meetings on Sunday [such as Sacrament Meeting]. However, members regularly use "Church" and "Chapel" interchangeably to refer to their local meeting house. No need to worry about offending anyone! The "Temple" is a separate building where sacred ordinances such as eternal marriage & proxy baptisms for the dead are performed. Temples are always closed on Sundays.
This song helped me to regain my faith and I have found more love and more answers from the Church of Latter Day Saints than from anywhere else and peace at long last. I am hoping that at some point my little girl Livvy-Lou will sing this at the Chapel, but am wondering if I am allowed to do that because of copyright etc - can anyone help please? I am due to be baptised with Livvy-Lou on the 29th August and am so happy and so is she (I told her it was her choice) Bless you all X
@1Ethnie Congratulations on your upcoming baptism! Wonderful! Yes, Livvy-Lou can sing this song at your church meeting. Please expand the video information [click on the down arrow underneath the video] for a link to the publisher's website. Best wishes, MoSop

Thank you for filling my day with light. I don't care for the doctrinal banter. I just know that Jesus is my Savior and this song confirms that belief for me. From the mouth of babes ... Thank you for sharing.
As an LDS member, the children's voices have always been the most powerful to me. I can't even teach my grandson the Primary songs with crying. My husband served as Primary Song Leader; I don't know how he was able to keep his composure when those children sang.
pastorjazz - thanks so much for visiting and watching. Focusing upon the Garden is not meant to diminish the cross. The scriptures teach that Gethsemane was the beginning of Christ's great suffering process & payment for our sin. In the garden, Jesus offered his powerful Intercessory prayer on our behalf, bleeding from every pore, and asking Father to allow the cup to pass, but if not be strengthened to endure. His sacrifice continued & culminated on the Cross. Stating at death "It is finished"
Beautiful song..I have it on repeat. Our primary choirister is teaching our kids to sing this for Easter. Thank you

It sounds like a lovely song but it's not theologically accurate. Jesus' gift is His death on the cross, not the sweating of blood in the garden.

Do you get the idea of Jesus Blood was shead in these places, not like blood but actual blood.
Just trust the Bible and trust the true and only Jesus my Lord and God (John 20:28; John 1:1-2)

40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

1 Corinthians 1:18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
The Atonement occurred on the cross, no where else.

theologically bankrupt. there was no gift given in Gethsemane, Jesus paid for sin on the CROSS, not in the garden
pastorjazz 2 years ago
pastorjazz-
Unfortunately your personal theology is bankrupt according to the scriptures.
In Gethsamane (and on the cross) Christ took upon himself the sins of the world.
In the Gospels we learn that he sweat drops of blood, so great was his pain - as he began the Atonement in the Garden of Gethsemane.
