I really like that boss, but he doesn't belong in a Metroid game. It completely conflicts with the art and design. His mechanical parts look more modern Zelda game, and the face is very nearly ripping off Alex Pardee's art.

Man, when I played this game when I was a little kid, this particular boss really scared me. It was just such an original boss. I mean, when you can't fire at it because it made gravity stronger and your missiles just hit the ground - that's just so freakin' cool.

@PaperShishigami yeah would have been, but other m shows you nightmare at his "healthiest". the x just took over his discarded, damaged body afterward. if only they made a metroid fusion 2(how about Metroid Fusion 2:Return of the X as a title?) in the same style as other m or prime. the x (re)infest some of the creatures seen in fusion(yakuza, etc), super metroid(kraid, phantoon, mother brain, etc), and prime 1, 2, (3?)(thardus, omega pirate, quadraxis, ing emperor, etc). just think about it.

@MEGATROID114 I have to admit, I kind of like this idea. I'd love to see the Mother Brain in full 3D combat (sorry, Other M. Besides, we need 3D KRAID.) as well as a few other things. I was sad that Thardus was a "one off" so to speak, as inanimate objects becoming phazon-charged death machines would have been awesome (besides Mogenar). Most of those aforementioned options were pretty thoroughly destroyed, though, although Ing Emperor-X would have been freaking amazing.

@PaperShishigami i was sad about thardus too. one of my favorite bosses from prime 1. kicking his inanimate ass with the plasma beam(started sequence after i beat the game the first time the started making my attempts and succeeding with practice). about some of my options being thoroughly destroyed. yes they were destroyed, but then why does ridley show up every time you turn your head?

what was yakuza before the x infested him anyway? i'm not sure of his origins..

I HATED the remake of him in Other M... He was much harder in Other M than he was in Fusion but still in fusion he did take away five or so energy tanks when i fought him... I think that Nightmare was a cybernetic organism that can manipulate gravity in both space and underwater. In metroid fusion when the X-parasite infected the organic parts in his system his face changed, but in Metroid: Other M it was designed the same way but without the X-parasite. Plus i dont think nightmares face melted in Other M, but its been a while since i have played it so i could be wrong XD

The issue I had with Other M was mainly Samus. They changed her in it. Ok I understand her getting PTSD problems after fighting Ridley for the first or second time. But this is the 6th time fighting him (metroid, MP trilogy, super metroid). And the whole recharging missiles thing didn't quite make sense but ehhhh. Another annoying thing were the monologues. She sounded like a completely inexperienced bounty hunter, not experienced at all.

I felt that Other M had some potential if they just didn't change Samus' personality so much. I felt like they tried too hard to make it resemble Fusion's style of showing her personality and ended up overdoing it.

The Nightmare is a metal box head with a circular faceplate containing only 2 blank eyes and a stitched mouth to cover the front, with arm-like appendages made of flat slats of steel with lazer cannons on them attached to the side of the head and an odd, egg-shaped object protruding out from below the head. And as you're fighting it you're constantly curious what lies behind the mask and you realize too late that you don't want to know...

I can handle seeing something like him (because you don't actually SEE him in the game) ...But Nightmare just seems so much more mysterious, Anyone can tell me what exactly Giygas is....but what about Nightmare?
