Frankly any criticism ought to be directed at the Nobel Commitée and not Barack Obama. Personally I prefer it when the prize is given for achievement and not as a call for action or as a statement. If the laurelate fails in her/his peaceeffort the price will be ridiculed, as have happened before. Not that I feel Barack couldn't become a worthy candidate, but he isn't one today.
He doesn't deserve it. He hasn't done ANYTHING TO CONTRIBUTE FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD!!!
And the ending of his statement.... is just ridiculous and very disappointing...
"For all those men and women around the World who sacrificed their safety and their freedom and sometimes their lives for the cause of peace. That has always been the cause of America"????? "That`s why the World has always looked to America."?????? "And that's why I believe America will continue to lead."
I agree with you in the fact that it's not true that Peace has always been the cause of America, but still I feel that a lot of people are judging Obama too harshly. I personally believe that he shouldn't have said that.
He is in the process of making an effort to giving ideas for diplomacy between nations, but it's gonna take some time for these methods to be put into action, we have no other choice but to be patient with this situation.
"I know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just being used to honor specific achievement. Its also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes; and that is why I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations, to confront the common challenges of the 21st Century."

Honestly, what else could he say, other than what he did?
He pretty much had no choice but to respond this way.
I doubt he expected to win the fucking peace prize. I'm sure the entire situation is a little embarrassing to him.

Good statement from Obama:
"I know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just being used to honor specific achievement. Its also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes; and that is why I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations, to confront the common challenges of the 21st Century."
