Most suicide bombers are single, poor, without much hope of getting wives due to the low supply of women. By birth gender is balanced but rich powerful men got more than one. Polygyny is not religion related at all, it is really about power and economic aspects. Other than Saudi Arabia, I would say that it may be rare to find a man with more than one wife, and four might be out of the question here. To your other question, womens rights have been and are improving and it is rare to find women on top in any country to be honost.

One reason why you would like to marry another woman would be that you are trying to help her out either financially or it could be because she can not find anyone.. its not just desires as the unbelievers may think. adopt a child, moslims can not adopt children but they can take care of a child until he is a man that can take care of himself, or a girl until she is a woman and get married
adoption wouldn't be fair to other family, as the adopt child will inherit the adopter
and blood is worth more of the inheritance
a man that is able to have children has the right to have a blood child, so having multiple wives would be best solution so the man can have what he wants, and the woman doesn't get thrown

Is a woman's physical autonomy violated under the allowance of polygamy? Not trying to stir anything up here. Just asking for an educated answer. I respect others beliefs and would like a definitive answer. How can a male figure be present all the time in raising his children if hes is with on out of 4 wifes? Not to mention holding down a job. Wouldn't this affect the upbringing of the child? Also,does the woman have free will or is she a subjective vessel to her ruling male? Thanx.

bgcor281, when the Quaran was introduced, it was introduced to people of the seventh century. Obviously, times have changed, and so have most traditions. Other than Saudi Arabia, I would say that it may be rare to find a man with more than one wife, and four might be out of the question here. To your other question, womens rights have been and are improving and it is rare to find women on top in any country to be honost.

Of course, women have free will...In north America it wouldn't be a great thing if you had more than one wife cause you have to deal with the law...But, in a muslim country, a women should speak up if she doesn't approve a second wife...the thing is that women are told that if they listen to their husbands, they are rewarded by God, whether in this life or the hereafter...but for something like this they can object...they can object to anything that's wrong...
