omg thank you for making this videos! its short, easy, and better than those stupid robot people! thank you again! it helped a lot! (just subscribed! :)
Wow! Thank you SOOOO much for posting. I have been hitting my self in the side of the face on my right side and in my shoulder on my left side... this helped TREMENDOUSLY!! Great that you did it from behind... so many people don't show that angle! Also, the "pull up" gesture was helpful, because it made me realize that the hoop will do the work... I was trying to hard to make it do what I thought I wanted it to do. I just started less than 1 week ago, so I'm pretty excited!! Thanks, again!
hey Ms. Newburn!!! that was pretty cool! from kim and audrey. did u no that on one of ur vids, a guy asked u to marry him? just so u no. see ya tomorrow at science class.
thanks! I am practicing the "corkscrew" move! I just attempted video taping myself doing it and of course failed LOL but it's all about practice and patience!
Thanks for posting this. I see why I can't do this move. I can't get my elbow up that high! My shoulders aren't that flexible. I've been struggling with this move for a month. This was helpful, though.
nice tutorials you've posted. thans for that. I am a beginner and I made my own hoop. For this trick my hoop seems too heavy, is that possible or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks. As long as you don't have water or additional weight, you should be just fine. Maybe you need to build up some hand strength to feel comfortable. The hoop used here is 42", 3/4 inch, 160 psi. That's a fairly standard adult hoop. Good luck.
Woohoo! My ultimate goal is a beam-me-up ;-) but I think I needed this as a second step (I could bring hoop down, but not up) and you taught it to me. I had trouble at first because my inactive arm kept knocking the hoop down but I watched what you did with your "off" arm and that was the key - need to slide that "off" arm in close to the body and out of the way!! Thanks again. :-)
I had just about given up hope on this move (granted I just got my hoop last week) until I found your video. Thanks so much for breaking it down and posting it! Now I just need to do it a couple hundred times to make it smooth. ;)
And little did I know that in simply wanting to share your videos with other hoopers that it would launch such a venture and large collection of videos as it did: squidoo dot com/hoola-hoop-videos/
A resounding YES to first half of your question: it's the weight of the hoops and their size that allow for the tricks and special moves. My blog - which you can find through wolf-river-enterprises *dot*com has links to helpful information about getting yourself an adult-sized hoop. You can also find a number of quality hoop-makers posted on hooping *dot*org. Look on the right side of the screen for the list. All the hoops are hand-made and are often custom-made to your color specs as well.
Thanks, and mazel tov on your new hoop!! If there are any particular hula hoop tricks you'd like to learn, please ask and perhaps I can see if someone can make a video showing how to do the move.
another great idea with this move that helped me a lot is to form a circle between your thumb and index finger then pull it up that way with a light grip so it swivels through it.

You're most welcome! We certainly wouldn't want you hitting yourself in the face. Happy hooping.

Thanks for posting my videos, sis. Little did I know that when I made them for your birthday gift that they would benefit other hoopers too.
