The wrong note at 2:28 that Hawnsy52 mentions is one of the trumpets. Fixed the second time, 2 measures later, you'll notice. That lick is a bit awkward to read and finger with the Fb. The key signature changes 2 measures before that, from F to Bb, so someone just missed it. Stuff happens. Very nice performance of this piece. Clams are not the sole domain of us weekend warriors!
Tone, sound quality, balancing, blending and tuning are great, but this should be played MUCH faster. After all, "Pas Redouble" means "double quick-step". The tempo should, ideally, be pretty much blinding.
@KamiYugure You can have the wonderful tone; precise, CLEAN woodwinds (which were indeed wonderful!); and complete mastery of this tune--or you can have a raucous, muddy, out-of-control mess. *Faster ≠ Better*
My high school symphonic band is playing this. I don't like it this way because it's sounds off without the brass sound. I am a trombone player so I feel so left out listening to this.
@lhsbonez strange, because my high school band is doing it, and since I am in percussion, we miss the strings. i guess it was originally a piano quartet, later transcribed for an orchestra. go figure!
My high school wind ensemble is playing this. And it sounds somewhat like this (our balance is obviously off) so i know we kinda have it right, cause this is awesome!
