  • I just mounted my mantel to my brick surround using this method, and it kind of seems like it will fall of the wall if I pull down on the front edge, or if I put too much stuff on it, did I do something wrong? Any help would be appreciated!

  • @zogorion Yes. Cleat is not in the correct position, in the same plane as the wall or not aligned correctly. Good luck!

  • Good for mounting headboards to walls that are not attached to the frame as well - motels have done this for years but of course they lock them in place with a few screws to prevent theft. Friends of mine back in the 60s had their headboard, and a wall mounted mirror mounted like this but the mirror had a 2x4 split with a double rabbet to make a locking L. It was a heavy antique mirror too and never budged, neither did the headboard despite what activities went on ;-)

  • I love this video. When my clients ask me about an easy way to attach a fireplace mantel, I try to explain it myself. But, sometimes I just send them this video in their email and let you explain it.

  • Thank you!
