The composer is Josef Hayden and its a section from his Piano sonata in Eb, composed 1789-1790. Hayden probably inspired Beethoven's to write his moonlight sonata and Hayden mentored Beethoven for a while.
Moonlight sonata and this piece of music inspired me to take up learning the piano and taking lessons now. Looking forward to playing this piece of music.
Oh come on, you could´ve read what says in the description, and obviously, there are many comments in here...Its a piano sonata in Eb written by composer Franz Joseph Haydn, it is a wide used composition, for example, on interview with the vampire
Well - you wouldn't like it if you had to play it - pretty impressive it may look but it's extremely awkward to play. I played one of Grieg's nocturnes which I had to do that and it was extremely annoying!
If you think that the whole sonata it's worst than this fragment, well I have to say that you understand more the music with picture 'cause if Lestat have played all of it, again in another edited version, from the beginning and to the end, it would have probably be as good as this little part.
Still, perhaps people will realize one day that our imagination could have already created this kind of scenario in our head just by listening the op.59 sonata of haydn!
I appreciate your opinion, but still, I don't agree with it. In the sonata there are moments I like and moments I don't like... Unfortunately there is only the short part I really admire... Even if it's a beautiful sonata (for sure it is) I can like it as a whole or just some moments. Maybe it's that I understand music with picture but there's the question if it's bad? Every way to understand music is good... Nevertheless, thank you for your opinion :)
This is a piece by Joseph Haydn. The original name of it is:
Piano Sonata in E-flat major, Hob. XVI: 49
This is the second movement of that sonata; this "Lestat part" comes in toward the middle. Can't help but to think of Lestat when playing or hearing this piece ;P
Unfortunately, I do not have it any longer, actually I had it once, printed it and then deleted. But I found the notes on google/images, so it still can be there :)
You can find a transcription of this on scribd, sheet music. Hayden Number 59 in E flat. It's a portion of the
Adagio, not the whole Adagio. It's very pretty and quite easy to play. Look up Lestat's piano sheet music. You'll find it. I think this place won't let me post a link.
ok kinda related question- in the film there is a scene where lestat and claudia feed of a whole family and claudia is playing a somber piece ona piano any ideas what and by whom?
The song she played for the family was Haydn's Symphony no.87 in D. This song is usually performed in A, and the piece that was taken from the first movement for the film was heavily modified, but still somewhat recognizable. I found this info on a Movie site so i am not certain if it is true or not nor can i find the song on the internet to confirm it. It has been a while since i have seen the movie so i would need to re watch it to confirm anyway.

honestly, don't you see the 'XD' at the end of my message. It was meant to be taken as a joke...no need to get so literal...and was that even an insult? I'm not stupid (well at least fully :D) and get this is as classical piece...for me to not know that would be shameful, being a pianist myself.
Well the XD wasn't in the post that I immediately replied to so I got confused. I resorted to sarcasm since I couldn't reach into my computer and slap you. No hard feelings.
Please someone answer this one question, does any one know the name to this song and who it was written by?... I'm hoping to find the piano sheet music so I could learn to play trhis wonderfull piece of music. Also I think someone should make a tutorial on how to play this song...
i know the second time when lestat looked like a monster he played hydan what is the title of the first time he played before claudia slit his throat please somone awnser me
i'm not sure, i dont even know what the one he plays when he's dead is called exacly lol.....i've just always liked the movie and wanted to learn it.....
Unfortunately I have only printed version, but I found the right name of the sonata so that you can find notes in the Internet. It's Piano sonata no. 49 in E flat major, Hob. XVI:49 (1789-90) Adagio e cantabile (what is "hob"???).
this is really good!

The beautiful moment begins after ca. 2 minutes.
Thanks for comment!

Hob stands for Hoboken as in 'Haydn Sonata E flat Major Hoboken XVI-49'
Hoboken-Verzeichnis is the catalogue of over 750 works by Joseph Haydn as compiled by Anthony van Hoboken.=] (Hence the name, hope that helps)
Beautiful piece of music
