  • i own a mio gps. can i track it on google earth when for example borowing my car to a friend? by some unique gps serial or something?

  • The best affordable gps in the market is garmen gps. My garmen C330 is accurate when it comes to streets & freeway driving. It cost only $135 during thank's giving in Walmart. I would recommend this Garmin C330 to those people who would like to purchase gps. The audio was good compare to my Magellan 800 gps.

  • i have this gps i drive over the road it works just fine for me i have the c220 model its only 2 years old i bought if form staples for 214.00

  • Problems I have had is it will freeze up and have to be turned off or rebooted sort of if you allow it to over work itself. This happens if you set it on a location and you miss a turn and keep eventually heat up and freeze. Around Montgomery it located an interstate that hadn't been built yet, In Tupelo Ms it likes to exit the main road near the home of Elvis just to have you return for no reason. Good unit I have other options laptop Delorme I phone so I can fill in the blanks.

  • Same thing here if it has to reroute to much it seems to shut off and reset by itself?

  • I use to use the laptop as a navigation device but having to pick it up every time I went to shower was a pill so I got the small mio as a dash unit and consulted the laptop every now and then. Then I got the I phone and it was great with its maps to see exactly where things are with the satellite you can see the features you need to drive a truck. I was able to find tanks at NASA, or shipyards you name it by using the satellite feature.

  • Every trucker should have one they should collect addresses and gps cordinates so if the next driver needs them they will have the exact location and no real need for a long drawn out directions session. One time my directions were when you see the dead opossum om the RHS turn left at the next road. Directions suck after hurricanes signs are gone old directions will not work cordinates get you right on the spot.Same for suctomers they should know their gps cordinates to give on the phone.

  • I'm not familiar with the rebooting issue, but updating the Tele Atlas maps might be an easy fix for your map troubles, are they up to date?

  • What is the process for this and does it cost anything?

  • There usually is an update cost for new maps. TomTom has a latest map guarantee, and I've heard cases of other manufacturers offering current maps for new devices that didn't have current maps if you contact customer service. Tele Atlas's main website has a Map Updates section under their "For Consumers" tab.

  • I now have the new GPS IFON and it has a gps built in along with Google maps. Glad to see this feature and probably will never buy another gps unit as long as I have a i fon.

  • I'm actually about to inherit a hand-me-down iPhone as well so I'm looking forward to testing out all the GPS features of it. Google's recent agreement with Tele Atlas makes it that much more appealing to own the iPhone with those GPS capabilities, but I'm not quite sold on it entirely replacing my standalone GPS

  • Only the newest 3g version of the I fon has gps and it is faster if you use it sparingly it gets hot quick and slows woen as a result. I like to have stand alone gps b/c I have gotten use to using it for a speedometer I don'nt have to look down to the speedometer on what ever truck I am driving since I slip seat the speed meter is often located elsewhere or is darkened this way with mio I have it in the same place every time. This prevents roll overs having the speed displayed easily.

  • Over all I like this gps I purchased it for the price used it as an OTR trucker. It has features to customize your unit and you can get raw data such as gps coordinates or find a location using these numbers. I try to keep a record of customers just in case our company ever decides to go with a database to save fuel and drivers time. Nothing more frustrating to me is going to a location with poor directions that can be located instantly with 8 numbers and 2 letters shorter than an address.

  • One time I had to go from Baton Rouge when time counted I was able to do a trip plan in just 2 min by pecking in the address and took off. I didn't take a trailer to Jersey so I could take any route the return trip I had hazardous materials and had to plan the trip a little closer. Ran the trip in record time legally b/c I was able to figure where to stop 1/2 way before I left. Customer was satisfied.

  • Thats actually an additional feature...There is an extra charge

  • It even comes with a baby to tell you directions!
