Now, why was it so easy for Reagan and not for Carter. Because Carter was a bad president, a REALLY bad president, and Reagan was able to clean up the mess within days. He knew when to and how to act. He brought the US to a peak not seen since before the Depression.

Government involvement is probably inevitable and I'd certainly like to see less US meddling in other countries domestic affiars. But my criticism is directed at the kind of involvement. Trading missiles to the Iranian ayatollahs in exchange for hostages as Reagan did was a bad idea. Selling the components and delivery systems for chemical and biological weapons to Saddam Hussein which Reagan also did was a bad idea. Involvement is bad enough. Stupid involvement is inexcusable.
