@dsanford12 There are 2 lifts side by side, and the one on the left has hooks that they hang the cars from. The loop between my feet is what they use to hang the car on the lift hook.
Awesome. This has to be set up so that it can be run the entire length without using the brakes, disappointing to get stuck behind someone who insists on slowing down. Call me a thrill-seeker, but.... give me an unimpeded track!
@ginopunsalan You can say that again. The first time I rode a alpine slide was in Winter Park,Colorado.A an old man with his granddaughter on his lap in front of me stopped 100 feet before the end.I yelled at him to keep on going!!!!
@b18c5specR They are motorcycle pants made by Olympia. I love them! We were on a motorcycle trip, and stopped here to ride the coaster. You can see more at olympiamotosports website. They are the AirGlide pants.
Do you think they'd let me ride down on one of these cars wearing nothing but my sneakers while holding the rest of my clothes in small bag in my lap?
Could you imagine how much fun it would be if a track was laid out between the top of the mountain (in the upper right corner in the beginning of this video) and the lowest point in the valley below (wherever that is)?
Imagine a ride like this that's 10 kilometers long (or longer).
I'd spend a weeks pay just riding that monster 5 times in 1 day.
I just looked at a google map to find where this place is.
You look for Imst on the satellite screen and then turn towards Hoch-Imst. Just above Hoch-Imst there's a huge open field and to the left there's a clear cut at least 100 feet wide into the mountains.
The entrance is at the end of Untermarkter Alm.
You can see the track itself if you zoom in to the 100 foot level.
I just noticed that "the wife" in the car in front left the view of the camera at 1:51(and the hubby didn't get released until 2:02), but he had already caught up to her by 2:52.
As expansive as the "lower 48" are here in the U.S. and as many mountain ranges and even small hills as we have we could have about 500 of these tracks scattered across 38-40 different states.
wheres the horn to honk them off the track when you need one?

@nudist0885 Umm, probably not. Austria is a very conservative country, and this is a family type attraction.

Ok, maybe not 500 tracks across 38 states, but easily 100 tracks across 25 states (even in the plains states like North Dakota and Nebraska).
