The reason why white students get better scores than black student is because the amount of stress on the African American community, the stress of poverty, the stress of being a discriminated minority, the history of racism, and the amount of violence on the African American community, but stress is the main reason, the less stress students are the ones who get the best grades.

I'm pretty sure most schools teach close to the same corriculum. I don't think theres that big of a difference between teachings that would lead to such a difference in scores. Maybe it has something to do with how black kids act in school, as opposed to how white kids act in school. Which would in turn lead one to the mentality of the students, which leads to the lifestyle out of school. Teachers can teach at higher levels depending on the learning apptitude of the students, not the color.
Where's the comparison between "Black" public school students & "White" public school students? White kids being taught Algebra, Geometry & Trigonometry by the 3rd & 4th grade? My youngest daughter is a public High School Freshman. She didn't do Algebra or Geometry until 5th & 6th grades but my kids educated themselves online. She had learned Calculus over the summer before entering High School, next year she'll start a dual enrollment College Program. It comes down to student motivation.

African Americans are so different genetically from africans, they have in average about 20% european ancestry. I read that in a genetic study article on the internet. 20% is a big percentage it is a little less than having a white grandfather or grandmother (25%).

IQ tests are mostly consisted of parts not involving education, they have memory sections and all kinds of stuff like where you have this pattern and you got to continue it. and anyway i dont consider inteligence all that important, id rather be really athletic (something that blacks excell in) than really intelligent.

White might have higher IQ on an IQ test but the segment of a black person's brain can relate to more physical intelligence such as accuracy, strength, speed, coordination and such. I didn't learn Geometry until i was a sophomore in high school. I had many different races in my classes growing up as well, many of them being African American and they learned what i learned. Surprisingly the rate of IQ increase for blacks are higher compared to whites which suggest some environmental factors to in effect here. So at the end of the day it comes down to yet another nature vs nurture debate. We're all entitled to have our own opinion on this matter. So there is in essence no purpose arguing over who is right or wrong. If you believe in something then you have to right to express them.
Fair enough. It'll be interesting to look back in another 50 years and see what IQ gains blacks have made with respect to whites. Statistics show that the average european has an IQ of 100 whereas a subsaharan would have an IQ score of 70. For an African American, the IQ score would be around 80-85. In my opinion, genetics is without a doubt a major factor that influence human intelligence. However that doesn't mean environmental or cultural factors wouldn't have an effect on our intelligence. When we are young, our brains are like sponges; soaking in the surrounding world without us even consciously knowing. With that said, kids living in family with high educational valves will definately have higher IQ score compared to kids living with "bogans".
You guys do realise that the IQ test is NOT measurement of educational background but rather a person's ability to interpret chaotic information and respond in a logical manner? For example typical questions in the test would be to identify the next number in a sequence, or to pick an object that fits logically within pattern. Therefore whether a person knows how to solve algebra, differentiate functions, or any of those stuff is irrelavent to contents of the IQ test itself.
PLEASE, enough of the excuses. White people in America eats just as unhealthy food. Whites are more intelligent than blacks, just as blacks are better than whites in certain sports.

I'm pretty sure most schools teach close to the same corriculum. I don't think theres that big of a difference between teachings that would lead to such a difference in scores. Maybe it has something to do with how black kids act in school, as opposed to how white kids act in school. Which would in turn lead one to the mentality of the students, which leads to the lifestyle out of school. Teachers can teach at higher levels depending on the learning apptitude of the students, not the color.

I believe in multiple intelligence. White might have higher IQ on an IQ test but the segment of a black person's brain can relate to more physical intelligence such as accuracy, strength, speed, coordination and such. Evolutionary adaptation created our brains to adapt in environment necessary for survival.

I just wanted to say, until you know the facts, you shouldn't just assume white kids learn more than black kids. I went to PUBLIC school my entire life and i'm a white woman. I didn't learn Geometry until i was a sophomore in high school. I had many different races in my classes growing up as well, many of them being African American and they learned what i learned. Knowone is saying African Americans can't do what Caucasions can do. You are stating your 'opinion'. I have nothing against you.

@Lovestruck211.His argument is weak. It's about placement. Public and Private schools from 6th to 8th grade in New Jersey are given M.B.S. tests, Minimum Basic Skills twice per year. M.B.S. tests scores determine what classes you're placed in. One can take Geometry before high school. Blacks and Whites

Surprisingly the rate of IQ increase for blacks are higher compared to whites which suggest some environmental factors to in effect here. So at the end of the day it comes down to yet another nature vs nurture debate. We're all entitled to have our own opinion on this matter. So there is in essence no purpose arguing over who is right or wrong. If you believe in something then you have to right to express them.

Fair enough. It'll be interesting to look back in another 50 years and see what IQ gains blacks have made with respect to whites. I wonder, if things don't end up being as rosy as the nurture-only crowd expects, will they concede the point? Or will they demand that we wait another 50 years while forking over more money for black education, black prisons, black housing, black welfare, racial quotas, etc.

If he feels the gap is closing, how genetic can it be ? "possibly" a little... Rushton and Jensen are not geneticists, so why wouldn't i claim your view as a perception ? Possibilities require more research if one really wants to get to the bottom of it. And like Flynn said, it's trivial

The fact remains that no one really understands what the Flynn effect is, or what it means. It's obvious that it can't continue indefinitely, nor can it be extrapolated backwards indefinitely. We'll just have to wait and see.
The other fact that remains is that we still know next to nothing about human genetics; the point is that environment-only hypotheses cannot explain the IQ gap.

Think of it like evolution. There are some significant questions that evolutionary theory does not adequately answer. Does this mean that all of evolutionary theory is wrong? Does it mean that we should all become young earth creationists?
No. We can admit that evolution has some problems, while also admitting that there isn't really any credible alternative.
The same, by analogy, is true of the genetic + environment hypothesis.

I don't know enough about the evolution process to think of it that way for now...I can think of it as adapting, making changes in ones environment to better suit ones needs, making changes within ones self in order to better adjust to ones surroundings. It's been suggested that racial variations are also clinial. Clinial in the old world appears as racial today....Go back to your messages. Read your own quotes. I doubt you really have to because you know already

At the end of the day it comes down to another nature vs nurture debate. Both sides have convincing evidence so its up to you to make up your mind on the subject. Whether you think one race is smarter than another is up to you. If you makes you feel good knowing your race is better than another than go for it! The world is not going to end just because you say so!

@CommonSense222 Yes I am aware of the low achievement in the test for the black population around the world. Statistics show that the average european has an IQ of 100 whereas a subsaharan would have an IQ score of 70. For an African American, the IQ score would be around 80-85. On that basis alone one may conclude that blacks are inferior mentally. However, going back to my previous posts, the IQ test is measure of one's ability to think in a logical manner.

This is why when a bogan mates with another bogan, the offspring would be an Einstein. However how can we know if the child is dumb just because of his genes, and not how he's brought up?

@raider968 Study shows puzzles and games do not increase IQ rates over the long run. You may see a small boost in the very short term, but eventually, the individual will regress towards their inherent IQ mean.

In my opinion, genetics is without a doubt a major factor that influence human intelligence. However that doesn't mean environmental or cultural factors wouldn't have an effect on our intelligence. When we are young, our brains are like sponges; soaking in the surrounding world without us even consciously knowing. With that said, kids living in family with high educational valves will definately have higher IQ score compared to kids living with "bogans".

You guys do realise that the IQ test is NOT measurement of educational background but rather a person's ability to interpret chaotic information and respond in a logical manner? For example typical questions in the test would be to identify the next number in a sequence, or to pick an object that fits logically within pattern. Therefore whether a person knows how to solve algebra, differentiate functions, or any of those stuff is irrelavent to contents of the IQ test itself.

I personally think black people in USA and Europe are equally intelligent to white people, but it is so because they were born and grew up in advanced culture and society. Black people in Africa are unable to create stable constitutions and to establish order, probably because black people posseses sort of antisocial behaviour, not only against white society, against ANY society.
There is no doubt that white people advanced in making a civilization.
Still, blacks have equall potentional.

There is strong evidence that Africans don't have the same intellectual potential as Europeans. Transracial adoption studies, where African children are raised in middle-class white homes, do not show any relative IQ gains. Thus it's hard to argue that intelligence has *no* genetic component.
