the hole that the stoke intake fit in is only 4", so i took a 5" piece of 4" stainless exaust, welded on some tabs equally ( 3 for mine ) , counter sunk the pipe an inch into the airbox and screwed it down, i would take a pic for ya but i just sold the darn thing last nite,.. but nevertheless, i also have a 99 pro edge-x 440 that im goin to thrash this year, just got to make the jaws can fit it,. clutches hit at 6200, 1 3/4 paddle,. geard LOW, so it should be fun

all i did for the fab work was got a 5 inch chunk of 4" stainless pipe out of the scrap bin at work,. welded three little l tabs around it and counter sunk the pipe into the airbox, the rubber air boot just sits over that and tighten down, i did notice a response in the throttle though,.. also i only run regular gas cause thats what the EFI system in tuned for, if you run super your only wasting money unless you get the ecm re-flashed,..

but on a sad note, i just sold it last nite,, :(

nice sled man. my cousins got a F7 03. ive got a ZR 700. just fixing it up. halls ass. check out my vid if you want just got the hoood painted. i got some performance shit done to mine. high compression wiesco pistons recoated electrys nickle plated jugs teflon coated pistons for heat purposes bored .030 over and i got a stinger and dual pipes on it with sno pro suspension.

i do agree, any type of can on firecats do sound sick but heres the kicker, if you look under the hood of many pro-built cats they do have upgraded pipes but they allways run a stock can, and according to dealers and such, Cat designed there mufflers for max flow but still retaining sound deadening and back pressure,..

with that said, my F6 mod is running a fatty pipe, DnD y-pipe, jaws can and i fabricted a big mouth intake for it,.. loud as fuck,. anyways, run what u want.

I agree with you on all points. How did you fab up your own intake? I just bought the straight 4" intake for the 03 440 sp and fit it on...there was some minor cutting but it turned out air-tight. I realy noticed how much louder the machine became after but was hoping for more throttle response which i never got :(

Got a question.... How hard is the fabbing on it. I'm a good mig welder... Just wondering if you have to place all the pieces into the sled itself.... then tac weld, then remove and compeltley weld, or if you can just weld it up using instructions.... Or do u even have to weld this up... I know that Jaws had a "Do it Yourself Kit" but I hear rumor that they just make them complete now.
