I'm definitely going to try this Louise! I made the liquid version, but it has little clumps in it, which aren't a big deal, but I would much rather make this - it's much easier! The liquid recipe I followed from a YouTuber didn't call for baking soda, do you know if it can be used without it? How did you break your soap up into tiny pieces like that-Naptha is super hard! THANK YOU, I hate spending tons of money on the more natural liquid soaps in the stores! :-) Mel
@BodyCareBoutique I grated the soap then ran it through a mixer and added all of the ingr. and mixed again for a super fine powder..I like it that way easier to desolve in water, you can omit the baking soda its just for odors. Goog Luck!
@805Soap Thank you darlin', I had a heck of a time grating the bar by hand, it was so hard! I can't wait to try it, it sounds much better than the long process of making the liquid. Thank you again for sharing the recipe. Mel :-)
@winnielane There is one called ZOTE, It smells different from FELS-NAPTHA. I found some recipes that use Ivory bath soap but I don't know how well it works..
nice vid! I too have tried, this, and have tried the melting the bar with water to make the liquid. and use a vinigar rinse, also, when using vinigar do not use bleach or clorox..
I made this. It is awesome!!!! I made some for my girlfriend as well she has one of those hi-efficiency washers and hate that the soap for those machines cost so much!
thanks for the recipe,i hope i can make this. having to take care of a family of 7 on my own at the moment it would be such great help.thanks so much!
@BathmistressThank you....No you can't bring lanudry over but I will send you some soap :] I made so much of this will be able to do laundry until 2020!!! Yikes...no excuse to get your laundry done now...LOL.
I saw video this a ways back. I have been dieing to try it but I didn't have a food processor. But i asked for one on mother's day and YEAH I have one. I will make some lard soap this weekend and make some of this degergent. I'n so excited. Thanks for doing this video!!!! I love saving money!
I second not using a superfatted bar. Oils in clothing is not safe going into the dryer and could be a potential fire hazard, although not highly likely, still good to avoid putting oil in your wash on purpose.
Well with 5 kids lol I should give this a try...lol.. hmmm I don't have lard soap....but I think you can use any soap bar, what do you think??? anyone?? Louise does your laundry smell good like orange after it's done? or the fragrance fades? Thanks for sharing I've seen Whatswithmegan do a video like this also :O)
@1cmirela I wouldn't use a bar of soap that is super fatted, because of the extra oil in it....I would be careful using it with clothes. I would buy a bar of Naptha. Yes the clothes smell so good & clean and when you use
the vinegar in rinse cycle you don't have to use a dryer sheet, so that is also a savings. I hope that helped.

The lye bar soap has a smell to it that I didn't like, is there another kind of soap to use? Also, there is no lather in the soap is that right?
