see, now my big question that none fo these videos answers is, what do you do with the loose end of the yarn that doesnt get knitted into the project (im a beginner knitter, so sorry if this is a stupid question)
I knit continental but I saw all the women in my family pick up the yarn from the top to bottom and bring it into the stitch on the needle, so that's what I do. I never saw anyone grab the yarn from under like you do but if it works why not?
it's interesting how you wrap the yarn while knitting..you hold the string in your left hand and wrap behind the needle?! I hold the yarn in the right and wrap around towards me!?
@doubletfarms There are two different types of knitting: Continental and English.
In Continental you hold the working yarn (the yarn from the ball) in your left hand. In English you hold the working yarn in your right hand. Continental works best for me, but different people use different methods.
what if you're adding three colours, but they are in sections -and let's say...
you join to colours together and you find the wrong and right side,
then after a while you add another colour but the line comes up on the good side?? how can you stop that?? cause that makes my scarf with no good or bad side because BOTH sides have the line grrrrrr :(
If you are adding the color on the wrong side that is where the line will be. The main thing to do with lots of colors is to make a tube that way all the mistakes are hidden inside and the loose yarn.
do you know how to get rid of the little line on the wrong side? Like when you do the color change when you start knitting, one of the side has the other color you just added. And it looks like a little line or like sewing kinda thing
Do you have to use something special to make a tubular scarf? Or can you knit one and then turn it into a tube? Can you use a sewing machine to stitch a seam for that?
Thanks Andy, color is realy the only thing I havn't mastered. besides stripes. I may be comming to Berkley for Christmas 08'. you should me and my boyfriend for lunch. if you know a good place.
Hi Rio. One of the things that I seem to have is the ability to let people see how easy it can be . Elizabeth Zimmerman inspires me to do that as well, she was/is an amazing Lady!

AS far as I know there is no way of getting rid of that.

You may do a duplicate stich with the yarn, but it may not look nice. Also a tubular scarf works wonders.

Also, your videos are very neat. ^^

YOu can use double pointed needles or one or two circular needles, you may certainly sew wool with a sewing machine. Look at Steeking for more info.
