There is no evidence of an exodus. There have been some tales about populations exiting but do not necessarily relate to JEws who were simply tribes (so called semitic) that seemed to have originated from the Boat People

Indeed. The only "exodus" the jews went through was when Cyrus emancipated the jews in the babylonian empire. Thus the jews throughout the middle east were free to "return" to palestine. And since the babylonian empire included territory in egypt, the jews living in egypt at that time viewed the event as an 'exodus' similar to that told in ancient sumerian epics, so those jew simply retold those sumerian exodus epics but twisted it around so that they are the main characters.

@MisterBoswell Yet I find the story of Exodus interesting because of the link with Egypt. fi. God tells Moses to do a miracle in front of Pharao and then the magicians! of the pharaoh copy that "miracle".

Secondly, It is possible that Exodus is an account of hebrew tribes moving out of Egypt DURING 40 years, in which many things happened TOLD as a 40 year wandering thru the desert. "Wandering" might be meant as the search for identity. Of course I am speculating.
