I had my abortion five days after you did. The waiting room was playing t.v shows of women that were pregnant. I told them to give me a copy of the ultrasound, they did, reluctantly. I did the medical abortion (RU486). I don't recommend it. It didn't work. It took two months after walking around with a half abortion to have surgery. Bad experience. I applaud you for being honest and telling your story. Sorry you had to deal with protestors. You are right, they do NOT help!

i live in a country town but even in the city there are no protestors at all. its a hospital procedure so even in the womens clinics its universal for womens health, children/baby health, midwifery, education classes for new parents. there is not just one function in these places. US seems to be quite religious and Aust is not. parts are devoted but not fanatic. we dont protest as we're too laid back. we think that it is the right of any person to do with their body what they want.
the experience is traumatic enough without people outside with the shouting & signs you described. i watched "if these walls could talk" yrs ago & i couldnt believe it! choosing to terminate is gut wrenching & so emotionally turbulent... mine has knocked me around so much i hate to think about the things that happened inside and outside the clinic to you. our temriantions are done under full sedation & its just another procedure to the nurses & doctors/surgeons. maximum support from day 1.

i had a 9 week termination. mine was suction. luckily i was under a full anaesthetic. i was sick thr whole way through. even though we couldnt have the baby because it was non viable through malformations in its heart, we couldnt have had it due to us being non financially able to support a baby. it was horrible. the elation in finding out, the horrible day of finding out there was problems, hearing the heart on a amneocentesis needle ultrasound, then being told to terminate... it was horrible

@dlstb No, I wasn't raped and it wasn't drunken, and I'm still in a relationship and have been for a while with the would-be father. My birth control failed, simple. I didn't miss one, throw up or anything. It was an extremely difficult decision to come to and however much I may regret it at moments it was the right choice. It was my situation, my child, my life, not yours, and therefore you or no one else has any right to judge.

And usually, in such cases, the abortion is caused by a problem with where the baby implanted and if left un-aborted will cause a miscarry or death. Your argument is without merit and is ignorant. Any child that makes it near 6 months of gestation (sometimes sooner) does not need to be aborted, EVER! I have cousins and friends who have had ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages, don't try to muddy water

Removing a fetus from the womb without the body doing so naturally can cause an increased risk of cervical cancer according to some studies. I hope doctors explain the possible risks like that to women considering an abortion. Tribal societies often administer a certain poison to the mother for an abortion because of how the body initiates the womb processes needed to remove a baby itself, thus the risk of mutations during the repair growth is reduced.

It depends on the definition, but usually the term baby is used to indicate a newborn by most dictionaries. And yes, I realize we were all fetuses, we were also all a sperm and ovum. I see absolutely no reason to put a seedling of a human that doesn't even have sentient and cognitive functions ahead of a being that does (the woman carrying it)
There really is not reason to enforce a woman to carry a fetus prior to the 3rd trimester outside of religion

I think it's really sad and sick that American women have to go through this. To my knowledge it's not like this in the UK (tho in nearby Ireland its still banned), our pro-lifers are a lot less outspoken. To have to deal with protesters throwing rocks when you are already upset really sucks, and for a man who has probably saved many women's lives to be threatened with death is disgusting. I put it at that point because not all implant and it is the first natural point at which a human has a reasonable expectation to make it to birth and a full life. Any other point, heart beat, brain development, kicking, or the "magic" 6 month mark are all arbitrary.

My brother and sister in law are unable to have children and they have paid thousands of dollars to try to have a child and thankfully they were able to have a beautiful baby girl who is 7 now and they want more children but are unable to have anymore. luckily in Australia we dont have anything like you described. it is just a GP / obgyn who oversees you and then its dont in the local hospital as a normal operative procedure. it was horrible enough for me going through it but it sounds horrendous for you with the protestors...

i live in a country town but even in the city there are no protestors at all. its a hospital procedure so even in the womens clinics its universal for womens health, children/baby health, midwifery, education classes for new parents. there is not just one function in these places. US seems to be quite religious and Aust is not. parts are devoted but not fanatic. we dont protest as we're too laid back. we think that it is the right of any person to do with their body what they want.

the experience is traumatic enough without people outside with the shouting & signs you described. i watched "if these walls could talk" yrs ago & i couldnt believe it! choosing to terminate is gut wrenching & so emotionally turbulent... mine has knocked me around so much i hate to think about the things that happened inside and outside the clinic to you. our temriantions are done under full sedation & its just another procedure to the nurses & doctors/surgeons. maximum support from day 1.

i had a 9 week termination. mine was suction. luckily i was under a full anaesthetic. i was sick thr whole way through. even though we couldnt have the baby because it was non viable through malformations in its heart, we couldnt have had it due to us being non financially able to support a baby. it was horrible. the elation in finding out, the horrible day of finding out there was problems, hearing the heart on a amneocentesis needle ultrasound, then being told to terminate... it was horrible
