@InweTaralom HI There, Thank you for watching and leaving your comment! My Mum is Irish! From Ennis, Co. Clare. But has been living here in London for over 53 years!!!
Hi, I also have a 99 model and it belonged to my gran. Years ago someone borrowed it from her and changed the tension and my gran never managed to get it right again. Do you think your mum might know how to change the tension of the stitching? Thanks very much for any help.
@MsHelen30 Hi there MsHelen, I was contacted by another YouTuber who would be able to explain it to you! Her name is "Muvandfarve". My Mum's in Ireland and the moment, so I am unable to ask her! Happy sweing! Nnek@ ;o) x
I just discovered I have a Singer 99K after my great aunt. I shall check the serial number like you did. I got it only because nobody else wanted it, and I could not throw it away. Maybe we could start using it for odd jobs that all ways turns up. It's the only sewing machine in the house. Thanks for this video :-)
Hi Turtlefromthenorth, thanx for watching and leaving your comments! I'm glad that you liked my video. My Mum used to have an electric sewing machine but gave it away to a friend. I think my Mum prefers her "Singer" and she's great with it! Let me know how old your's is! :D
I finally got to check the serial number and if I have done it correctly my machine is a Singer 99K produced in 1933. I remember my great aunt told me it was hand operated when she bought it, but as soon as she could afford it, a motor was fitted to the machine. There's even a tiny green book that shows down payments over a few years. The electrical wires have been replaced some time around 1990, there are some signs of use but it seems to work just fine.
I remember my grandmother that keep her old sewing machine which she loves it, than later she gave up using that sewing machine and she sold to secret becuase it highly value as she wants to move to nursing home but sadly my grandmother died 2 years ago she is only 93 years old she would be 95 now., she told me some years ago when she was young woman things were very difficult times they always use manual by hands but very clever.
I would like to do similar research on the only Hoover my mom ever owned... I still have it. Damn thing, though, while it would eat buttons in a heartbeat, it would not sew one on to save it's life!
I loved this... and the 1936 video, wow, what an eventful year!!
Hi my Dear Dave!!! Thanx a million for watching and leaving your very funny comment which made my Mum and I laugh out loud!!! :D :D
I'm also very glad and pleased that you liked my 1936 video too!!! It was an amazing year with so many important world events going on. I said "WOW" too!!!
Oh, I forgot to tell you. If you take a stocking and put it over the vacuum cleaner's hose (hose on hose? nah) you can put the attachment into places (get your mind out of the gutter!)
and safely retrieve lost coins and earrings, old crisps, lost winning lottery tickets, etc.
I learned that from Kim and Aggie. If you don't know them, search on Youtube, "how clean is your house bbca"
btw, the Hoover I have is the 1953 model 63 and there are vids on youtube about it. I thought it was older. I have no clue what its worth and the most places laugh when we give them the letter of what bag it uses when we want to replace the bag.
Hi Our Dear Peter, I just read out your comment to my Mum and we both had a great LAUGH!!! :D :D Thanx a million for watching and we are both looking forward to seeing you again very soon!
Thank you very much for watching Dear Alfonzo2000 and leaving your very funny comment! My Mum said that you made her morning and we both had a great laugh! :D :D
Hi my Dear Twish!!! The Singer Sewing machines are wonderful and pretty to look at too! Mum prefers them to the electric ones! She gave her last electric one away. Mum sends her love! :D
I so enjoyed this. I love to sew and my machine looks a tad different but your mum's is a beauty!!! I do have a singer in storage that was my mother's and sits in a wood table/stand but I can't bear to dispose of it. I know my mother made lots of pretty dresses on it so it has many beautiful memories for me;)
