I used to use a shakespeare ultralight rod until years after being in the garage it broke. Now i use a zebco medium action rod. Took the shakespeare reel off the old rod and placed it on my zebco.
I was bluegill fishing yesterday and I lost a 5 pound bass. Didn't think I would need a net and I got it all the way up to the boat, went to pick it up, and it panicked and broke the hook off.
@futureprofisherman not really. if you happpen to hang a world-record bass (whick would be around 23 lbs.) and youre using ultralight line, there should be at least a little doubt in your mind that you'll be able to land him. how bad would it suck to lose a world record bass?
@fishinallyear1 subscribe....i will sub you and you sub me back, i made a bad first impression.....im not really a dick, and I see we both have a interest with the sport of fishing :)
i caught a 29" 8 lbs dog fish on a ultra light 5.5' rod and 6 lb line and a tiny hook bent the hookand my line was stretched so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it ultra light rules I fish in southern mo clear water fish go for the light line its great the fight is great don't be a sissy fish ultra light
@petersmith86 just caught a 6 pound smallmouth on my 4'8" uglystick last night with 4 lb test... fight of a lifetime. will be getting the ultralight out more often.
lol and like this guy, the first thing to come out of my mouth was "this isn't gonna happen"
I have an ultralight rod with 4 pound line on it that I use mainly for bluegill in the 2 to 9 ounce range. Sometimes i have a little fun with it though. Some notables include a 17 inch smallmouth, a 16 inch largemouth, a 22 inch Spanish mackerel, and a 23.5 inch chain pickerel all on 4 pound line. So much fun. Great vid.
good job. dont underestimate the power of ultralight. is this in Nc on the noose river? looks like it.

@cbriedel You got the State right. It's a lake that's part of the headwaters of the Little Peedee River in the sandhills of NC.

this is why you shouldnt use anything below 12 lb. line when bass fishing.

@fishinallyear1 I'm not saying to use an ultra-light line....you said to not use anything under 12 pound test.....this should not always be true
futureprofisherman 6 months ago
@futureprofisherman better not to be a dumb-ass and just go with 12 or above

You can't beat the fun of catching fish using an ultralight setup.
The Shimano Compre 7'6" Ultralight can cast 1/64 oz lure and pretty good distance for a bigger fly lure.
